Obama outspends Romney on Apple products; Democrat-leaning states have higher iPhone usage; Apple employees donate $15 to Obama for every $1 to Romney

“Since the presidential election kicked off in 2011, the president’s official campaign arm, Obama for America, has spent $353,000 on Apple products according to official spending reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. That’s enough to buy 1,780 new iPhones or 176 new MacBook Air laptops,” Joseph Walker reports for Dow Jones Newswires. “The Romney campaign has been far more conservative in its Apple Store shopping binges, spending 72% less than Obama’s staff has over the same period, about $99,000.”

Walker reports, “Smartphones have become all the rage since the 2008 election, but, so far, neither campaign has invested much in mobile advertising, says Paran Johar, chief marketing officer of Jumptap, a Cambridge, Mass.-based mobile ad selling network that placed mobile ads for the Romney campaign during the primaries.”

MacDailyNews Note: In early June, an Apple spokesman said that Romney became the first political candidate to use the company’s iAd service. Read more: Apple: U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney becomes first politician to use iAd service – June 10, 2012

Walker reports, “Political affiliation plays a part in who is using which kind of phone. Google’s Android smartphone operating system has more users than the iPhone in the U.S., but people who live in Democratic-leaning states are far more likely to utilize iPhone apps than voters in Republican states, according to Localytics, a mobile analytics start-up.”

MacDailyNews Note: Localytics found that 70% of the top ten most active iPhone states were Democrat-leaning states. These tended to be coastal and more densely populated, or more urban. Conversely, states with the lowest iPhone usage are found in the less densely populated states in the middle of the country, and 70% of these least active iPhone states were Republican-leaning states.

“Overall, the tech community seems to be firmly in favor of re-electing Obama when it comes to opening up their wallets, according to contributor filings. Obama has raised $950,000 from the Big Five tech giants, compared to Romney’s $123,040,” Walker reports. “Apple employees seem to favor President Obama by a margin of 15 to 1. Campaign contributions from donors identifying themselves as Apple employees total $121,305, compared to the $8,175 donated to Romney.”

        1. are you really that much of an idiot? are you kidding? you have to be joking. who could be that stupid? if you were in the fifth grade I couldn’t give you a pass with that. idiot?

      1. The full quote isn’t much better, I have both read and heard the full quote in context. He can spin it all he wants, but his point is that businesses are dependent on the Federal government and collective efforts of many to be successful, which is very offensive, and very wrong.

        1. You can be offended all that you want, twimoon1, but that does not change the truth. Businesses *do* leverage the products of government and the infrastructure developed from the collective efforts of U.S. citizens. Roads, bridges, dams, aerospace research that lead to modern aircraft, Earth observation satellites, air traffic control, GPS…the list goes on and on. You can spin it all you want, but you are spitting into the wind.

That does not mean that businesses just spontaneously arise out of this infrastructure. No one is discounting the effort and sacrifice needed to get a business going and to guide its growth. But these businesses also rely upon the foundation that was developed by the country working together and sharing resources.

The point of all of this is that both businesses and citizens utilize public infrastructure and have an obligation (as well as the selfish incentive) to maintain and improve that infrastructure. That takes resources, and that means taxes. Taxes are not evil, they are a necessary part of our society and those who seek to avoid paying their fair share while this country spirals towards bankruptcy are the true shirkers.

There is no doubt that we need to reduce spending and cut waste. We also need to raise sufficient tax revenue to cover our spending. We cannot depend on the self-serving fantasy that we can cut taxes to spur growth, with the resulting growth increasing taxable income to an extent that more than offsets the tax rate reduction. That only works when tax rates are high – above the optimum range that balances tax revenue and economic growth. And no Republican that I have ever heard has been able to define that optimum tax rate…all I hear is that lower is better. And that is true to the extent that we are collecting sufficient taxes to cover our spending over the long term. We are not doing that, and we have not done it for decades. Time to get a clue.

        2. Yes, botvinnik, financed by *taxes from businesses and individuals*. Where do you think that the government gets its money? The government collects taxes and then allocates those funds to a variety of tasks such as national defense, medicare and medicaid, transportation, etc.

Econ 101…you are such a smug and clueless tool to post a meaningless response like that. You either missed the whole friggin’ point or you are being intentionally obtuse. I am not sure which is worse.

    1. And here is a slightly longer excerpt from Obama’s speech that clarifies the meaning of that little snippet that gives you such joy.

“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

“The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.

“So we say to ourselves, ever since the founding of this country, you know what, there are some things we do better together. That’s how we funded the G.I. Bill. That’s how we created the middle class. That’s how we built the Golden Gate Bridge or the Hoover Dam. That’s how we invented the Internet. That’s how we sent a man to the moon. We rise or fall together as one nation and as one people, and that’s the reason I’m running for President — because I still believe in that idea. You’re not on your own, we’re in this together.”

If you want to differentiate your preferred candidate and political/social views, the don’t get lazy and take the easy way out by twisting and distorting reality. Are you truly that desperate? The fact is that Romney has made almost identical statements in the past. But you just hate Obama so much that you cannot bring yourself to admit that anything that he does is good or worthy of praise. And that inability to face reality is what weakens you. Because no one is as bad as you attempt to paint Obama. Nothing that has any complexity – people, environment, economy, etc. – can be validly represented or classified in such a binary manner.

        1. I appreciate the sentiment, Piccio. I am disappointed by the fact that such corrections are necessary on this forum. It does not speak well of our country, our citizens, or the media. But it is necessary. Because the biggest enemy to our country is not communism or socialism or even greed and corruption. The biggest enemy is deception, deception by lies, disinformation, and “spin.”

The unvarnished truth is critical to the long term health of a democracy. It unmasks lies, reveals deception, and untwists attempts at disinformation and spin. People who are armed with the truth understand the risks of over-reliance on government, as well as the nature of mankind which is incentivized to success by a capitalist system but, also, can be warped to extremes of greed and corruption by unfettered access to such power.

The American representative democracy has survived quite a bit of corruption over the decades. I suspect that there has been far more corruption and graft than most of us realize. But it has limits – it cannot survive merely by wishful thinking. The universe is described in terms of science and math. It is time that people, and politicians in particular, once again begin respecting the scientists, educators, and scholars who have contributed so much to this country and to the world. You can deny reality only until it brutally slaps you down.

        2. The republicans on here also conveniently ignore that Romney gave the exact same message. Check out the Daily Show for video clips from this election cycle of Romney pointing out that successful people had great teachers and help along the way, and that others built the infrastructure for you. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-july-25-2012/democalypse-2012—do-we-look-stupid–don-t-answer-that-edition—grammatical-gaffes
Many of the repubs on here exhibit dishonesty at its worst.

    2. The republicans are so proud of themselves. They have quoted the President of the United States so completely out of context that his words take on a completely different meaning. Too bad they have to resort to these kind of childish antics, but if they had a good candidate they wouldn’t need to.

BTW, I know what he said before and after that statement, and no amount of lying on your part is going to change the truth.

    1. The bulk of the additional spending or increase in the deficit was a direct result of Bush’s actions during his Presidency, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Bank Bail-out, tax cuts etc. etc. If you’re going to post something here, at least start from a factual place.

      1. At President Clinton’s direction, no fewer than 10 federal agencies issued a chilling ultimatum to banks and mortgage lenders to ease credit for lower-income minorities or face investigations for lending discrimination and suffer the related adverse publicity. They also were threatened with denial of access to the all-important secondary mortgage market and stiff fines, along with other penalties.

The threat was codified in a 20-page “Policy Statement on Discrimination in Lending” and entered into the Federal Register on April 15, 1994, by the Interagency Task Force on Fair Lending. Clinton set up the little-known body to coordinate an unprecedented crackdown on alleged bank redlining.
The edict — completely overlooked by the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission and the mainstream media — was signed by then-HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros, Attorney General Janet Reno, Comptroller of the Currency Eugene Ludwig and Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, along with the heads of six other financial regulatory agencies.

“The agencies will not tolerate lending discrimination in any form,” the document warned financial institutions.
So this is where it all started.  In 1994.  When the government pressured lenders to qualify the unqualified.  To put people into houses they couldn’t afford.  Or else.

        1. actually Bush and McCain are on record repeatedly warning that path was unsustainable.

Chris Dodd and Barney Frank accelerated the train over the cliff.

But don’t let the facts get in the way of your biased, false narrative.

        2. So that was Bush warning about increased home ownership at the 2004 GOP convention?

Because it sounded a lot like he was touting it as proof of the success of his policies.

        3. Ubermac rolls out this cut-and-paste crap one more time ONE MORE TIME despite it having been thoroughly refuted. This once again demonstrates that you CANNOT trust Ubermac and his ilk. They twist things to support what they want you to believe. You have to do your own research if you want to make an educated decision.

I read that document, ubermac. The objective of the document was to eliminate discrimination…that two equally qualified borrowers should be offered the same interest rates regardless of skin color. It also clearly states that lender’s should continue to apply good lending practices.

I have to once again ask this question. If this policy was so terrible, then why didn’t former President Bush reverse it in the EIGHT YEARS that he was in office?

I will not allow this kind of garbage post to go unchallenged, Ubermac. Because we cannot overcome the challenges faced by this country if our decisions are based upon falsehood and deception. Crawl back into your hole where you belong.

        1. Perhaps that is because we actually started focusing on the war in Afghanistan (the real war) after Obama took office?

Bush should have focused on Afghanistan and finished that war during his back-to-back administrations. Instead, Bush jumped into Iraq chasing fantasy WMDs and ended up leaving TWO unfinished wars for his successor to clean up as well as a corrupt “ally” (Pakistan) that already has nukes.

At least Obama wasn’t afraid to make the call to go into Pakistan and get Bin Laden. And he was smart enough not to return his body back to the U.S. That’s Obama 1, Bush 0. Game over.

Oh, wait a minute…I forgot. Bush said “Mission Accomplished!” about eight years ago. I guess everything has been fine since then.

        2. No offense taken, botvinnik. Your opinion means less than rat piss to me.

It might be different if you actually posted something worthwhile from time to time to break the monotony of your “Messiah” soundbites. As far as I am concerned, you have relegated yourself to the role of a very minor impediment to either be stepped around or stepped on along the way to a rational future. I just wish that you and your ilk would all move to one state and secede from the Union. It would save a lot of trouble.

        3. COALITION MILITARY FATALITIES BY YEAR IN AFGHANISTAN:
          2001 (Bush) – 12
          2002 (Bush) – 70
          2003 (Bush) – 58
          2004 (Bush) – 60
          2005 (Bush) – 131
          2006 (Bush) – 191
          2007 (Bush) – 232
          2008 (Bush) – 295
          2009 (Obama Messiah) – 521
          2010 (Obama Messiah) – 711
          2011 (Obama Messiah) – 566
          2012 (Obama Messiah) – 242 (only half-year & still counting)

        4. botvinnik, I am just a tiny bit curious about what your point is with these numbers…

Are you somehow insinuating that Obama caused more of our soldiers to die just because he is a Democrat? That the troop surge advocated by the GOP resulted in greater casualties? That eight years of Bush failure in Afghanistan because of his preoccupation with starting a manufactured war in Iraq resulted in less casualties than the last few years during which a reinvigorated Al Quaeda and disenfranchised Afghani citizens intensified the terrorist resistance against the U.S. troop surge? That Obama should be held accountable for the cost of attempting to achieve long-term stability in the region by training and gradually handing over responsibility for national security to the government and citizens of Afghanistan after Bush utterly failed to do so?

Obama did not start these wars – they are both Bush wars for two terms. I give Obama credit for trying to end them in a manner that is best for the U.S. and the citizens of these two countries.

Just what is your point of posting thisa string of numbers? It is amazing that you have the gall to attempt to belittle me when you are the one apparently lacking in wit.

        5. bitvinnik, you are the gift moron that just keeps on giving. I will never lack for entertainment as long as keep posting on this forum. By all means, please keep trying to insult me. It humors me that you try so hard, but achieve so little.

    2. The only reason that the debt increased so much under Obama is because the Bush regime boosted the level.
Actually additions by Obama have been very very low. It was the out of control spending and irrational tax cuts under Bush that caused the annual debt lever to be so high.
Get the actual facts, rathe than make them up

      1. Actual facts huh… How about these stats? Lord knows we need more of the rich and successful people’s money to keep paying for all this. Could you imagine the cleaner the air and water would be if we got rid of these versus the government robbing people of their earnings. Because when it comes to earnings, we know the government didn’t do that

The federal government made at least $72 billion in improper payments in 2008.[1]
Washington spends $92 billion on corporate welfare (excluding TARP) versus $71 billion on homeland security.[2]

The Congressional Budget Office published a “Budget Options” series identifying more than $100 billion in potential spending cuts.[5]
Examples from multiple Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports of wasteful duplication include 342 economic development programs; 130 programs serving the disabled; 130 programs serving at-risk youth; 90 early childhood development programs; 75 programs funding international education, cultural, and training exchange activities; and 72 safe water programs.[6]

Examples of taxpayer-funded purchases include gambling, mortgage payments, liquor, lingerie, iPods, Xboxes, jewelry, Internet dating services, and Hawaiian vacations. In one extraordinary example, the Postal Service spent $13,500 on one dinner at a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, including “over 200 appetizers and over $3,000 of alcohol, including more than 40 bottles of wine costing more than $50 each and brand-name liquor such as Courvoisier, Belvedere and Johnny Walker Gold.” The 81 guests consumed an average of $167 worth of food and drink apiece.[8]
Federal agencies are delinquent on nearly 20 percent of employee travel charge cards, costing taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars annually.[9]
The Securities and Exchange Commission spent $3.9 million rearranging desks and offices at its Washington, D.C., headquarters.[10]

A GAO audit found that 95 Pentagon weapons systems suffered from a combined $295 billion in cost overruns.[14]
The refusal of many federal employees to fly coach costs taxpayers $146 million annually in flight upgrades.[15]
Washington will spend $126 million in 2009 to enhance the Kennedy family legacy in Massachusetts. Additionally, Senator John Kerry (D-MA) diverted $20 million from the 2010 defense budget to subsidize a new Edward M. Kennedy Institute.[16]

The federal government owns more than 50,000 vacant homes.[19]
The Federal Communications Commission spent $350,000 to sponsor NASCAR driver David Gilliland.[20]
Members of Congress have spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars supplying their offices with popcorn machines, plasma televisions, DVD equipment, ionic air fresheners, camcorders, and signature machines — plus $24,730 leasing a Lexus, $1,434 on a digital camera, and $84,000 on personalized calendars.[21]
More than $13 billion in Iraq aid has been classified as wasted or stolen. Another $7.8 billion cannot be accounted for.[22]
Fraud related to Hurricane Katrina spending is estimated to top $2 billion. In addition, debit cards provided to hurricane victims were used to pay for Caribbean vacations, NFL tickets, Dom Perignon champagne, “Girls Gone Wild” videos, and at least one sex change operation.[23]

Congress recently gave Alaska Airlines $500,000 to paint a Chinook salmon on a Boeing 737.[25]
The Transportation Department will subsidize up to $2,000 per flight for direct flights between Washington, D.C., and the small hometown of Congressman Hal Rogers (R-KY) — but only on Monday mornings and Friday evenings, when lawmakers, staff, and lobbyists usually fly. Rogers is a member of the Appropriations Committee, which writes the Transportation Department’s budget.[26]
Washington has spent $3 billion re-sanding beaches — even as this new sand washes back into the ocean.[27]
A Department of Agriculture report concedes that much of the $2.5 billion in “stimulus” funding for broadband Internet will be wasted.[28]
The Defense Department wasted $100 million on unused flight tickets and never bothered to collect refunds even though the tickets were refundable.[29]

Taxpayers are funding paintings of high-ranking government officials at a cost of up to $50,000 apiece.[34]
The state of Washington sent $1 food stamp checks to 250,000 households in order to raise state caseload figures and trigger $43 million in additional federal funds.[35]
Suburban families are receiving large farm subsidies for the grass in their backyards — subsidies that many of these families never requested and do not want. [36]
Congress appropriated $20 million for “commemoration of success” celebrations related to Iraq and Afghanistan.[37]
Homeland Security employee purchases include 63-inch plasma TVs, iPods, and $230 for a beer brewing kit.[38]

        http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2009/10/50-examples-of-government-waste

        1. Wow, so you can post misleading facts from a sideline publication. Wow.
Pointing fingers and shouting fire gets you noticed, nothing else.

          Sad.

        2. Good copy and paste…now please explain why your party failed to fix any of this, even after four years of a supermajority which your party wielded like a sledgehammer.

I am not acknowledging that all of this data from the Heritage Foundation is accurate or fairly represented. After all, that organization clearly has an ax to grind. But there is no doubt that there is government waste and corruption that must be addressed. There has always been waste and corruption, even in Republican administrations. Let’s address that in a bipartisan manner.

        3. Now, Now attempts to intimidate with lots of numbers. Let’s examine just one of his statements as a litmus test..

Now, Now claims that “A GAO audit classified nearly half of all purchases on government credit cards as improper, fraudulent, or embezzled.” If that were true, then the GAO would have ended the government credit card program years ago. The checks and balances on the use of these cards are significant, and there is no way that this assertion could be true across the program (unless some very small percentage can be construed as “nearly half”).

What can you believe from Now, Now? It is hard to tell. And, in my opinion, if you have to sift through each word of a post wonder what is manufactured BS and what is legitimate, then that post is a waste of time.

    3. Re: First 2010, Then 2012
What are you going to do when Obama is reelected come November?
Willard RawMoney is so inept he had the Tory PM smacking him down publicly along with the London Mayor calling him by name.

Willard is a lucky sperm club wanna be who lacks the qualifications, preparation, intellect or strength of conviction to be POTUS. He’s a pandering fratboy in magic underwear. Wake me up when he manages to say something that is not either:
      1-Pandering.
2-Flat out a lie or heavy shading of the truth.
      3-Reflective of galactic ignorance.

I am no fan of Obamanation, but Willard is a joke. Not even a good one.

    1. Agreed. Also, I don’t care for his magical mormon underpants… Imagine a guy running the country that actually believes the freakin’ nonsense in the Book of Mormon?! He believes (in addition to his magical underpants) that when he dies, he will be reincarnated as a god on some distant planet. How could we count on sensible decisions from somebody who believes blatantly bat-shit crazy nonsense?

Yes, the bible is full of bat-shit crazy nonsense too, but the Book of Mormon takes bat-shit crazy to a new level. (And yes I have read both the Bible AND the Book of Mormon)

      1. Oh you read the whole bible but you’re an atheist? I’m sure “I once read a quote from the bible in someone Facebook status” is what you actually meant.

        1. I’ve read the whole Bible, and I’m an atheist. In fact, I’ve studied the Bible quite closely; it’s what lead me to be an atheist in the first place.

And I agree. It takes a pretty string suspension of disbelief to buy into 90% of what the Bible says. It takes a Reality Distortion Field of quite a higher magnitude to believe the utter nonsense contained in the Book of Mormon. And anyone capable of that level if self-delusion and is that detached from reality has no business whatsoever being the Leader of the Free World. Why do you think the powers-that-be in the Republican Party were pushing so hard for so long for anyone but Romney to get the nomination?

  1. I’d like to see a map of Apple’s U.S. retail store locations overlaid with Localytics’ data. Also, a map of AT&T’s 3G coverage since they had the iPhone exclusively for so long.

    1. This.

I’m not in a coastal city, not a LTE city yet… sucks.
but I now only know 6 people that do NOT have an iPhone, All of which are not liberal. (That I talk to regularly that is..)

It takes time to change people to see the light, doesn’t happen overnight.
Even my Uncle is eyeing an iPad now.. he’s almost there, it’s just MS Excel thats stopping him. (Yes i’ve showed him numbers, and CloudOn etc. He wants Official MS Excel and he’d probably buy an iPad instantly)

      1. Apple products are a gateway drug to rational decision making based on an understanding of actual facts. This is very dangerous. A rational population is the last thing any politician wants to contend with.

  2. If Apple wasn’t that way inclined, none of it’s core users, investors and customers would be the Apple fans that advanced and supported it’s platform.

Birds of a feather flock together and Steve Jobs was, lest anyone forget : A Progressive liberal minded genius.

    1. “You’re headed for a one-term presidency,” Jobs told Obama in a meeting last year where he asserted that the White House needed to be more friendly toward business, according to the Huffington Post, which obtained a copy of Walter Isaacson’s book, “Steve Jobs.” – Article from Politico

        1. Funny thing about that. You are free to say what you want. If it’s largely BS, there is no Constitutional right that makes anyone listen.

        2. “You have to be willing sometimes to listen to some remarkable bad opinions. Because if you say to someone, ‘That’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard; get on out of here!’—then you’ll never get anything out of that person again, and you might as well have a puppet on a string or a robot.”
          — John Bryan

        3. But you don’t have to listen to the *same* bad ideas over and over and over. Some people just don’t have much of value to offer or, at least, they refuse to make the effort required for thoughtful and constructive inputs. Time is precious and sometimes you have to ignore the dross.

  3. Yeah, and the leftist-progressives hate Apple for being a successful big evil corporation that exploits Chinese workers and shuns union labor and pollutes our environment. Wake up Apple. These people aren’t your friends.

    1. Idiot-” leftist – progresives” supported Apple through thick and thin and made it the big successful and differently caring company that it is, they also invseted in it knowing full well that it would reach today’s levels and beyond. They have nothing against being rich and sucessful and being rewarded – they just dont beleive in selfish greed and mean spirited ingnorance – Think Different. ( get t?)

  4. I can never understand that argument that republicans are for the rich, Wall Street, et cetra but yet liberals/ democrats seem to be the biggest voters/donaters for tech firms that make millions or in Apples case, billions. Seems there is a conundrum here, how can people buy the line that voting liberal/democrat = the common man and conservative/liberal = the rich. From
just seeing the above chart concerning Android phone and iPhone, the majority are voting liberal and or Democrat.

Conclusion: vote for a candidate that you know well and does not use spin to tell you what are I his views and political leaning!

    1. HT, there is a difference between “corporations” and the “rich.” I don’t have anything against rich people, in general. I simply object to institutionalizing wealth via legislation, which is what Republicans have been pushing for the last decade. It smells a bit of the old system of nobility. The rich can be rich without impoverishing everyone else. And the irony of it is that impoverishing the masses will eventually devalue the wealth of the rich. Greed ends up killing itself. Unfortunately, it oftens devastates the rest of us, as well.

  5. I just wish instead of altering each others words and taking them out of context, the candidates would actually talk about the issues and THEIR ideas on how to fix it. Let’s face it – this is really a one party system. Both sides are only interested in their own power and they keep the rest of us distracted from what is really going on by pitting us against one another in partisan politics. Meanwhile, they are getting away with things that would land you and I in jail (think insider trading).

    Squirrel!

    1. WHAT!? Are you trying to tell me that the ultra-rich and ultra-powerful are most interested in themselves? (Perhaps in direct proportion to their share of the nation’s income?) Nooooooo. they care about meeeeeeee. (Yes, possible repliers, I know there are exceptions.)

  6. The fact that even a penny is going to either side proves that the bulk of the American public has no clue as to how the politicians are worthless and paid whores for the oligarchy.

Is there actually any significant difference from CIA Bush, Cigar Clinton, Bush the retarded, and Obama the magic Black Jesus? Out of Afghanistan yet? Any bank or Wall street convictions yet? Military contractors like Haliburton taken to court and convicted?

Bank industry fellatio, Military Industry frottage, Insurance Industry S&M, Medical Industry tribbing, and genuflection to political correctness is playbook SOP for both “sides” of the same coin.

        1. You read that right. Why be such a racist?
Here is my point. Look at these maps

          http://www.censusscope.org/us/map_nhblack.html

The first shows voting in the 2008 Presidential election.
Now open the second one side by side and check the demographics. Switch from Black to Hispanic, while noting their voting habits.

Next, switch to the poverty map (you may want to have three pages open to do this).

There is your answer. The ‘teat suckers’ in the red states are in the poverty areas, those with the highest Black and Hispanic populations and voted more Democratic that Republican.

So yes, the red states do, but it is the blue population (including poor whites) that does most of the sucking….

        2. Well, it is obvious you understood the point I was making in regarding the cheap android user and the drown government in a bathtub red states. I guess if you feel a need to bring up race you can but I don’t see the need to.

I’m just waiting to see a few more right wing wacko heads exploding. Oh, the humanity.

        3. oh please, spare me your righteous, FALSE indignation. If you choose to read race into my original comment, then go ahead. I really don’t know what to say about that.

Here is a clue. I was talking about red states generally getting back more in goods, services, grants, etc (tax dollars) from the hated federal government than they pay in tax dollars.

        4. Oh please, both of you get over yourselves.
I’m not indignant over race at all.
Matter of fact, I don’t give a shit.

But the implications are in your comment, you just don’t get my point. You associate red states with taking Federal dollars before you even consider who or what it is for, and it is NOT for the red voters. Does that make it clearer?

BTW….”I’m just waiting to see a few more right wing wacko heads exploding. Oh, the humanity.”
Looks like you lost that one, too….;-)

        5. TowerTone:
You are ridiculous. CitizenX didn’t mention race. You did at 7:33pm. Your interpretation of CitizenX’s post imagined that it was racist. It was not racist and you are wrong… and also ridiculous.

        6. Call me names if you like, but I don’t think your maps support your argument at all. What I do know for a fact is that the county in California that gets most Federal financial aid per capita is also the one where the biggest majority of voters vote republican.

        7. I’m not sure why you think I would call you names, or why you are posting to this thread three days later, but I clearly showed and explained what the maps are and how to compare them.

But once again, look at the voting blocks where they are blue, then compare them to the maps of low income districts. It doesn’t get any simpler than that.

I don’t doubt that you know of one Republican county that draws in more money than it puts out (especially if it has a large retirement population), but my point is much larger than one county, it covers pretty much all of the South.

Also know that the reason I did this was to goad CitizenX, who never misses a chance to diss Republicans (especially Conservatives) by throwing out mostly false but still widely held beliefs about us. His views on the right are so silly and backwards that I can even take them seriously enough to get upset, but still like to correct (although, looking at his locale, he had probably never had the opportunity to see how wrong he is….)

      1. Do you know what the criteria is to constitute ‘race’? Do you have access to a dictionary? Are you from one of the red neck states that have difficulty in reaching the national average for education?

        Think before you post.

        1. Could your post be more off base?
Are you a person from a blue state that can’t understand charts, diagrams and facts?

You are in way over your head.
Try to nderstand the gist of a thread before commenting.

  7. Apple tends to cover wealthy urban areas much more than rural areas that generally have less deposable income. Also, they are still using face to face communication more than urbanites that text across a table. Money has moved to the city centers now and probably has made the Democratic party the wealthiest party with the greatest disposable income. That could skew the sales a bit with rural culture difference and city urban spending on the latest fades. But all in all it is pretty much 50/50 these days.

Just a little statement to Obama. Never claim you ever accomplished one thing because our money pays government workers and funds all government spending. Even your fund rising, we pay for your transporatation and private plane to / back from these events. Plus, you are little more than a public servant and you are not smarter or even worked harder than any other public servant. You only are president because everybody around you worked to make you president. Claim nothing! Not even our government created itself- citizens created the government with the threat of treason and death. What a royal arse ignorant statement!!!

      1. Yes, one man in a sea of more than 500 can single-handedly screw up more shit than 8 years of a brain-dead, irresponsible redneck as President. Talk about a Reality Distortion Field…

  8. A lot of blue collar people buy PC’s because they believe they can’t afford Macs. I always ask them “Well, what is the top amount you can spend?” and then I find them a nice Mac on Apple’s refurb site for a decent price. Then they tell me they love it and it runs far faster and more reliably than the last PC they had. And it ends up lasting them longer, and not having to pay someone or some service to clean it out saves money in the future.

  9. Mitt’s over in Europe at the moment. It’s the first time we’ve got a good look at him. If he’s seriously the best the GOP can come up with you guys really need a third party, and quick!! He’d made at least three diplomatic faux pas before the engines on his plane had run down.

  10. Apple owes its entire success to capitalism and the free market! The idea employees support the most divisive, anti-business, pro-socialist, utter failure of this president is either a case study in ignorance or mind-altering drugs! Another 4 years of Obama, even the great Apple will be in decline! Unbelievable!!!!!

    1. The idea that Obama is “the most divisive, anti-business, pro-socialist, utter failure of [a] president” is what is a case study of ignorance or mind altering drugs. Repub’s attempts to paint Obama as taking positions he doesn’t is just simple minded FUD and propaganda. As for your comment about Apple’s imminent decline – its greatest period of growth came in the Obama years. So how do you like them apples???
