“Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, the annual gathering where the secretive company hosts folks who make a living writing software for its products, kicks off Monday,” Doug Gross reports for CNN.
“Two iPhones and several Macs have had their coming-out parties at WWDC, along with a host of operating-system overhauls,” Gross reports. “Which raises the obvious question: What will Apple announce on Monday?”
Gross reports, “Speculation has run rampant, as it does every time the Cupertino, California-based computing giant moves a muscle. But some of the guesses make more sense than others. Here’s a look at some of the most credible reports, with our take on the odds of them being even vaguely true.”

Doug Gross presents a logical and reasonable assessment of the likely WWDC 2012 major topics. It was interesting that he did not even mention the Mac Pro when discussing potential new Mac releases. According to the MacRumors Buyer’s Guide, new Mac Pro models have been released every 348 days, on average, in the period from 2006-2010. The period between new Mac Pro releases has been growing from less than one year before 2009 to 420 days in 2009 and 511 days in 2010. Even so, the current gap of 683 days is rather monstrous, even for a low volume product. It was arguable Apple’s flagship model for years, and still has the most beautiful internal industrial design of any computer that I have ever seen.
The Mac Pro has been neglected over the past couple of years, but I do not believe that it has been abandoned. Look for a new Mac Pro machine very soon.
Hey! Using logic and research for post? You must not be any kind of tech analyst. For them, wild guesses and speculation is all they need.
But, I do agree with you. I even think that the case will changed to make it a little bit smaller. I also wouldn’t be surprised if some new ventilation technology was shown off. I think the Mac Pro and MacBooks will be the ones shown off but iMacs will also be spec bumped.

Also hope the Mac pro does get updated. Not a big seller but likely high margins. The heavy lifters need a new machine if only to stop them going to the dark side.

Is the long gap the fault of Apple or Intel?
WWDC-2006 was my favorite ever.
They announced the Mac Pro but it didn’t ship in time for Back to School, or Christmas, and wouldn’t come out until April the next year.
So don’t hold your breath. It could be a thousand days before you can buy the new Mac Pro.
I agree that there will not be a new iPhone at WWDC. All the people who are expecting to see it will be disappointed. But iOS 6 will be previewed; this is a developer’s conference, after all.
I’m hoping for a “parade” of new Macs…
