Apple: What to expect at Tim Cook’s WWDC keynote on Monday

“Next Monday morning, Apple CEO Tim Cook takes to the stage to give the keynote at the company’s 2012 Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. Expect a boatload of hardware and software news,” Eric Savitz reports for Forbes.

“Barclay’s analyst Ben Reitzes laid out his expectations for the event in a research note this morning,” Savitz reports.

• Reitzes expects “a major upgrade” to the Mac line.
• He’s predicting deeper iCloud integration on Macs, iOS and Apple TV.
• He thinks Apple could release APIs for Siri and iCloud to app developers.
• He sees “an attractive Back to School promotion” ahead. His theory: free Apple TV with purchase of MacBook.

      1. Got me thinking.

If they are going to show off iOS 6 and that centers around a 4″ screen it is certainly possible that these “aluminum/glass abominations” could be developer preview devices.

Similar to when they jammed a Pentium 4 in a G5 tower and called it a day during the Intel launch.

        1. ONE thing to add. If they are going to debut iOS 6, with it’s proposed redesign and larger screen of the iPhone (Extra space to show off) then wouldn’t they want to show them off at the same time. I mean if you have extra space built into the software for the next devices main features then wouldn’t it make sense to show them off together. Like if they integrated the weather app into the empty space with the redesign of the iPhone, showing that extra space and weather integration would give the iPhone away. I think they will debut them together, it is only logical, I don’t know why anyone else hasn’t picked up on this yet.

      1. No! September bad!

I’ve had my iPhone 4 for two years, and while it’s an excellent phone, I’m ready for whatever our friends at Apple are doing next.

I’m hoping for an announcement next week, pre-orders starting toward the end of June, and shipping July.

  1. …FUTURE TOGETHER?

I am worried that we’ll not see an update to Mac Pro line, which will signal the end of Apple and the pro world.

I will never use an iMac to do work on and many of my friends in music, movies, tv, and science fields agree — we will be forced to shift to horrible Windows or geeky Linux in order to use pro hardware.

It will be a very sad day, but I am half expecting it.

    1. While I am awaiting to hear of a new Mac Pro just as, if not more eagerly than you, why would next week be the cutoff date? I think the fact that HP is running a sale on all of its desktops to the end of July is more telling about a new processor release. At least I see that as more of a sign than the random guesses made by a bunch of analysts,.

Personally, until the Mac Pro is pulled from the site and the store, I’m not willing to give up.

    2. Hey, what about an iMac Pro? Would you use it? Or prefer a junky, yellow cap, but fully “pro” PC? Think about it or you’ll be one of the many “forced” by Apple to stay out of home…

  2. What we will see.
    1. Mountain Lion preview (maybe launch date announced).
    2. iOS 6 demo(s).
    3. Sales figures buy the numbers.
    4. Maybe a new MacBook Pro
That’s about it. Apple has to spread these announcements over 12 months so 1 about every 3 months, next will be Sept iPod, iPhone. Then maybe November IMac, Mac Pro if it is to be continued.

    1. Like I said in an earlier post “ONE thing to add. If they are going to debut iOS 6, with it’s proposed redesign and larger screen of the iPhone (Extra space to show off) then wouldn’t they want to show them off at the same time. I mean if you have extra space built into the software for the next devices main features then wouldn’t it make sense to show them off together. I think they will debut them together, it is only logical, I don’t know why anyone else hasn’t picked up on this yet.”

    2. What we shall see:

      a) facts and figures – sale numbers etc. – blah blah
      b) the new mac line-up – slimmer, sleeker is the theme on every model
      c) each machine will demo a particular Mountain Lion feature – please note ML is ready today
      d) big wow and a huge hurray from the crowd – millions will download asap
      e) BUT wait – iOS 6 is then presented on the stage – Siri APIs demo
      f) new Maps and a glimpse of Apples 3D integration
      g) two new iDevices – 1) an iPen, 2) IPodTouch2 – the gaming unit or what most claim to be a iPad Mini – but no, it’s an extension to Apple TV and acts more as a gaming unit.
