Kirk McElhearn writes for Kirkville,” Tim Cook had a conversation yesterday at the All Things Digital conference, where he discussed Macs, iPads, and a number of other subjects. One comment he made was about Ping: ‘We tried Ping and the customer voted and said, this isn’t something I want to put a lot of energy into. Some customers love it, but there’s not a huge number that do, so will we kill it? I don’t know. I’ll look at it.'”
“I guess I should say ‘it’s about time,'” McElhearn writes. “I’ve never been a big fan of Ping… Apple had no plan. Since Ping was introduced, the company hasn’t changed anything of note, just letting it coast from its initial flawed implementation.”
McElhearn writes, “It’s rare that Apple introduces something as big as Ping and overall reactions are so negative. I don’t know anyone who has used Ping for more than the first few weeks, and most of those people were fellow journalists who were using it to write about it.”

MacDailyNews Take: ‘Twas Zuckerberg who killed Ping. Knifed it before it was even born. The fact is that without Facebook integration, it was virtually useless.
Ping made Google+ look frequented.

Its on my list of things to disable whenever I “optimize” someone’s Mac or iOS device.
Let not blame it all on Zuck. True is no one knows what happened in the meeting with Jobs. Facebook provides integration with many other social platforms. Spotify functions exactly like Ping should of if it happened. I’m guessing it was some stubborn sticking point with Jobs that caused that marriage to fail. This site really pisses me off when they present hersay as fact. We all love Apple so lets defend it with the truth, yo!
Now if only they would morph it into a service where I could see what apps people are buying…

Facebook, love it or hate it, was enough for most people- Ping and Google Plus a distraction.
It doesn’t help that most of the music coming out right now is terrible.
Took me a minute to remember what ping was
Not sure of what or why it is what it is, but you can’t dispute the fact that Facebook Stock has a Big problem, seems like if Zuck did, then Apple could raise the stock price or at least stabilize it if it was integrated into ping now… Then just maybe to late.
People need to shut the fsck up about Ping already. Was it promised that it would replace Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or AIM? I linked my account to Twitter and routinely recommend and see recommendations from friends and buy songs and albums. That’s it, that’s all. Anyone who believes that Ping was going to do anything more than that is a bozo. Anyone who believes it was going to be a social media sensation is an idiot.
Calm down fanboy. We all like our Apple stuff but Ping is a joke. That’s it. That’s all. It’s a joke. Apple doesn’t do everything right. It’s just a company. They make stuff. Great stuff, usually. But not always. See : the “Cube”. They don’t know you and you don’t know them. Don’t take it personally. Apple isn’t your BFF. It’s a lot of people in a lot of buildings working on cool stuff. But they don’t know you. Call a friend and go have a cocktail. Talk about football and women. Relax. Enjoy your life. But do pick up some AAPL shares or options because it’s about to (in my humble opinion) trend up. Why not love your Apple stuff AND make some money? But hey…………they’re not inviting you over for a bar-b-que.
Facebook is dead, Flipboard has more legs than Facebook at this point. Social is overrated I learned that lesson at a recent IPO.

When I read the title, I thought they wee referring to Microsoft’s search engine, bing. But then I thought, “wait, that’s not it”. Then upon reading the article, I was like “oh yeah….that thing integrated to iTunes on ios”.
