“Apple’s (AAPL) design chief Jonathan Ive says his current project will be his best yet,” Patrick Seitz reports for Investor’s Business Daily. “That’s quite a statement, given that Ive designed such iconic products as the iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad.”
“In an interview with the U.K.’s Telegraph newspaper, Ive was asked which product he would like to be remembered for,” Seitz reports. “‘It’s a really tough one,’ he said. ‘A lot does seem to come back to the fact that what we’re working on now feels like the most important and the best work we’ve done, and so it would be what we’re working on right now, which of course I can’t tell you about.'”
Seitz reports, “On Wednesday, Ive, Apple’s senior vice president of industrial design, received a British knighthood for his ‘services to design and enterprise.'”

Well, I suppose you can interpret what he said as a hint at some new “major project” but I suspect he would have said the same thing before the release of the iPad, the iPhone and so on. In other words, “if he was to be remembered for just one of his Apple designs” it would the latest, because they are always trying to improve.
He’s probably talking about the 7.85″ iPad mini.
He says this wryly. It’s a cliche that if you ask an artist what is their most important work they will say the one they’re working on…
What do you think he’d say? “This is crap compared to some things I have worked on”?

Steve and Jonathan were likely water brothers.
Bravo !
Sir
4.5″ iPhone 5 & 7.85″ iPad mini, for sure.
Perhaps, but this sounds like something even … bigger.
60″ diagonal big maybe?
It’s like my father always says, the favorite of his 9 children is the one sitting nearest to him.
No it’s Apple branded BEER.
something which Steve was too keen on for the last 15 years.
From the deleted chapter in Isaacson’s Biography:
Forstall : “THINK about IT! Apple branded BEER”
Ive: “Way cool man. We could make stout as well! I’ll design radical new bottles… ”
Cook: “Imagine if we could get our supply chain chops into making BEER! Man, turn Foxconn … well a part of it anyway.. into a brewery… !”
Jobs: “ARRRRRGH…. get we get back to iPhone please… “.
Schiller: ” well… you know steve, that Beer things sounds pretty good … “.
The beer thing would be their answer to creating jobs here in
the USA, they wouldn’t ship Chinese brewed beer across the Pacific.
More likely Apple to open a vineyard, sell wine made from…
you got it… mackintosh apples.

No, It is time. Time to merge the phone with the tablet. How?
With a flexible screen that folds in half like a cigarette case,
and a 4″ or whatever on the outside for use with the phone. So now we will have: An i-pod, a phone, and an i-Pad. Get it yet? A music player, a phone, and a 7″ to 10″ touch screen computer. yes it is one thing! Steven P.
Wonder if during that Knighting ceremony and the brief conversation she had with Ive, if Princess Anne asked for any product release news tidbits. Sir Jonathan of course said, ‘I’m not allowed Princess Anne’ to which she replied, ‘I have a sword mind you, I can easily go from Princess Anne to Queen of Hearts and start shouting, “Off with their head!”‘
I wonder if he felt gypped it was Princess Anne and not her
nibs the Queen.
He walks in expecting Elizabeth II. But there’s her daughter, her highness Princess Anne, the inestimable royal presence.
“Bloody hell, what’s all this then..” as he tries to smile…
iPhone 5
iTV. Anything else (that has been rumored) that is just an update of an existing product, such as a smaller iPad or larger iPhone (or another Mac model), would not be special enough to be considered “his best yet.”
that’s the TV thing
To be correct, it is not “designed”, it is “co-designed”.
Car?… TV?…
Congratulations Sir Jonathan. Well deserved.
Probably IMacs, TV with clear lucite-like screens, you can
see through them when they are off; like a piece of glass.
The iMac computer parts will be in the lower part (where the logo is now), They shrunk the tech with what they learned from the iPad, iPhone.
Then an iPad will come out that is a 90% clear screen, with the guts/battery down in the bottom 10%. Or battery in a skinny bezel. Trickier because of the battery, but the iPad’s circuit board is pretty small for everything it does. Most of the innards are battery.
Apple likes Start Trek. Its gonna be an iMac where the screen comes off to become a big iPad. Like the saucer section detaching from Enterprise. No ?
Siri button. Small button, small speaker, put it anywhere. Also streams your music and has full knowledge of everything you have on iCloud, including docs, etc.
Wow let’s say all that has been done is continually work in progress. And as every year Apple make changes to all it’s products.
Now, consider working on every product simultaneously that makes Ives very busy and one would consider that a Big project.
