“Pegatron Technology reportedly has landed orders for a new-generation iPhone to be launched in September and a 10-inch iPad to be launched in the fourth quarter, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers,” Monica Chen and Joseph Tsai report for DigiTimes.
“Pegatron is currently an OEM for the iPhone 4S and new iPad,” Chen and Tsai report. “Pegatron has already finished expanding its equipment and labor force for Apple’s orders.”

MacDailyNews Take: iPad (Late 2012)?
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Dan K.” for the heads up.]
It is DigiTimes: they reported totally different “news” last week, and two weeks before, and they will invent something else next week.
Maybe 1/5 (at best) of all of their “news” eventually gets accurate.
Why would there be another large iPad introduced this year? The current new iPad seems good enough. Apple doesn’t refresh their product lineup that often. I sure have my doubts about a 7″ iPad, but I see nothing wrong with the attempt especially if it comes with a Retina-class display.
There is the rest of the world to consider; don’t be so US-centric. The new iPad with LTE technology only functions with North America’s LTE bandwidth. It doesn’t work on the bandwidths that’ve been assigned for LTE in Europe or Asia.
So while the new iPad is selling in other parts of the world, there are many people (like me in Singapore) who are holding out for an LTE ipad model that will be able to provide us with LTE capabilities in our home countries – getting, y’know, a useable feature that we’ve to pay good money for!
ditto from Europe. Won’t upgrade my iPad2 to the new iPad until we get usable LTE with the New new iPad. Let it be, Soooon
August? Why not? Keep the pressure on the competition.
Of course Apple will make a smaller iPad because consumers have been running out to buy those instead of an iPad. Oh wait….
💡 *DING* 💡
A September launch for the iPhone makes sense, as Apple typically launches late in a quarter. The 4th quarter for the iPad is most likely the ramp up of inventory for a 1st quarter release.
Apple’s iPhone and iPad growth, almost doubling every year, requires more and more suppliers or longer lead times to meet demand.
Digitimes probably got their info screwed up. Said company will begin production of the iPad 4thGen in the fourth quarter but Apple won’t be launching it then.
DigiTimes, late 2012?
Will still be full of BS, even if things randomly come true – “stopped clock” and so on.
A 7-inch iPad, which reportedly will be released in August
No it won’t. BS rumor mongering. 2012 continues to win the prize for the worst-ever rumor mongering, even worse than 2011.
IPHONE 5 is launching in August 14th.
