Apple today released iOS 5.1.1 for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd- and 4th-gen), and all iPad models.
iOS 5.1.1:
• Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
• Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
• Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances
• Improved reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List
• Fixes an issue where ‘Unable to purchase’ alert could be displayed after successful purchase

iOS 5.1.1 is available via iTunes and also over-the-air via “Settings” on compatible iOS devices.
How about fixing the frozen home button issue.
This issue is could be caused by cell network disconnection/reconnection. At least this was the only way when I faced a “freeze”.

Restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device. Try them all, one by one, and then your fscking Home button will work, unless it’s physicaly broken because you dropped your iOS device, you spastic fsck.

Not sure why AppleSwear got so worked up over a frozen home button comment. One of the many reasons why I like Apple products is that they are reliable. I can “restart, reset, etc.,” but that should not be necessary with an Apple product. Leave that reset stuff to the Microsoft and Dell and Samsung. Our (unreasonable) expectation is for Apple products to work 100% of the time. The miracle is that they come close, at least in my experience.

Original iOS 5.1 update was tested to solve battery issues. No further improvement on this is expected.
I’ll drop mine into airplane mode and see if that fixes it.

The battery on my 4S is still being outperformed by the battery on my wife’s 4. Gotta say I’m a bit disappointed in the fix…
I had the battery drain issue on my 4s after updating to iOs 5.1. After a complete reinstall. And still no joy I force quite all none apple apps and found the problem gone. I then went through each app and discovered that tuneIn Radio, which I had been using as my bedside alarm was running in the background and therefore daring my battery. Usage time and standby time were equal until I force quite tuneIn Radio.
If you don’t have a passcode, go into the camera lock screen, press home button, it goes to your home screen
DO NOT download OS 5.1.1 if you are using Iphone 3!!! You will get a NO SERVICE indicator and cannot make calls. Apple can’t fix it, AT&T can’t fix it – it’s messed up, don’t do it!!!!!!!!
