Steve Jobs inspired Facebook’s new, life-saving organ donor feature

“Mark Zuckerberg has revealed that his girlfriend and Steve Jobs were the inspiration behind a new, ‘life-saving’ Facebook feature that allows users to share that they’re an organ donor with their friends via their Timeline,” Killian Bell reports for Cult of Mac.

“The social networks hopes that the new feature will help spread awareness for organ donation, and encourage as many people as possible to donate,” Bell reports. “Users can specify when they became an organ donar and even tell the story behind their decision to donate.”

Bell reports, “During a recent interview with ABC News, Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the inspiration behind this new feature came from his girlfriend, Priscilla Chan, and Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who underwent a liver transplant back in 2009 before losing a long battle with pancreatic cancer last October.”

  1. The value of Facebook stocks will go down in flames like Groupon upon listing. FB has maxed out its monetary returns and is chasing growth in marginal low income countries like Brazil, India and China. In this regard, FB’s business model is more akin to RIM than to Apple, which Zuckerberg is trying to attribute Steve Jobs for.

    1. I agree even though I am not a Facebook user. It would be nice if Apple could slide something in like this under iTunes.
So many people out there that would benefit if more people were made aware of this.
