“Two days ago, Mumbrella posted an article pondering whether Samsung was responsible for the embarrassing Wake Up campaign that featured a paid for protest in front of the Sydney Apple store,” Peter Wells reports for Macworld. “According to Slashgear, Samsung publicly denied they were responsible for the stunt. So who is behind it? James Croft, from our Mactalk Podcast, and our sister website, looked through the source code of the Wake Up page and spotted something interesting. A Doubleclick account identifier [that points to] … a bunch of hits on the RIM AU website.”
“So it appears it’s Poor Old RIM who put together this embarrassing campaign. It’s heartbreaking that even when RIM try something cool, they end up screwing it up so badly that no-one even imagines it could be them,” Wells reports. “It’s also worth noting that Blunty, the lucky man who just happened to be at the Apple store to capture the video of the protesters, has worked with Blackberry in the past. He posted a three part glowing preview of the Blackberry Playbook in the lead up to its Australian launch.”
In an update, Wells reports, “Blackberry OS 10 will be released at 12.30pm Pacific Daylight Time on July 2 (5.30am EST, July 3 in Australia), according to an anonymous email received by Macworld Australia. The source shows that when the Wake Up timer was at 5,493,696 seconds, this equated to 63.584 days, which in turn showed that it would expire at 12:28:36pm on Monday, July 2, 2012.”

And, yes, Apple still should not be doing business with Samsung if they can help it and working hard to eliminate any dependence upon Samsung ASAP.

I was addressing the provably false assertion that OWS protesters have no business experience or jobs. Some are still employed, and spend their free time fighting for representative government that isn’t bought and sold by big corporations and the ultra-rich (among other causes). Others are now unemployed, but have significant experience. So, regardless of their opinion on crony-capitalism, it is false to say the group has no business experience.
You are entitled to your own opinion on OWS, but not your own facts. That’s all.
By the way, I definitely agree with you on RIM – they really went into coast mode about ten years ago, and are paying the price.
Perhaps you didn’t notice that jobs was actually ‘Jobs’, as in Steve?
And yes, it was a jab in jest, as many of the homeless (in the OWS camp near me) became part of the ‘movement’.
As far as business experience, maybe they should find a better way to prove this, as I haven’t heard any of the reports form any of the networks showing much respect for capitalism (not that it couldn’t use some improving, but what can’t?)
So, even if many of them are in business, or even have degrees, that doesn’t give them real-world experience, now does it?

WOW!!! The “wake up” people were having a lot of fun. Was that their sole reason? Too have fun? What was the point of this mini theater production? Somebody paid for the busses and for the t-shirts and signage etc., but for what purpose? So many questions, so far no answers.
The protesters were having fun because they were getting paid. They had no idea who they were working for. It was just a fun school field trip for them – with a paycheck and the end of the day.
Ironic name chosen for Research in Motion. The RIM acronym describes what RIM has been circling on the way to dumping down the drain since early 2007.
All RIM’s co-CEOs did was issue denials on the way to their grave.
Downplaying the iPhone was possible for the first 6-12 months, but it was obvious to any user of an iPhone in the first month that cell phone users would never go back.
