“If you have an iPad on Verizon’s LTE network and use it as a personal hotspot (not currently possible on the AT&T version), it will last you roughly 25.3 hours on a single charge,” Anand Lal Shimpi reports for AnandTech. “Obviously that’s with the display turned off, but with a 42.5Wh battery driving Qualcomm’s MDM9600 you get tons of life out of the new iPad as a personal hotspot.”

You are only as mobile as your smallest battery. The best place for and LTE radio is in the device with the largest battery. When Apple ships a tablet with LTE Advanced spec. I will be be pre-ordering before Tim Cook leaves the keynote stage.
25 hours of charge. 30 minutes of data. Something out of whack here.

Tethering on AT&T, or any carrier for that matter, is a nice tool to have in the chest but, that’s not where I live. Give me wicked fast broadband any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Ever since I found a place to live, I’m lovin’ me some broadband.
Imagine the performance that battery/chip combo would mean for the original iPad or 2.
I can appreciate the load 3 puts on that new battery.
