Simple fixes for new iPad Wi-Fi issues

“This morning we reported that a number of new iPad owners are suffering from poor Wi-Fi performance on their new tablet,” Killian Bell reports for Cult of Mac. “If you’re one of the unlucky few, then this simply fix might just solve the issue, and in turn save you a visit to the Genius Bar.”

“Open up the Settings app on your device and tap on the ‘General’ tab, then tap ‘Network’ and then ‘Wi-Fi’. Find the Wi-Fi network you’re currently connected to, and then tap on the blue arrow next to its name,” Bell reports. “Now tap the ‘Forget this Network button’, and then ‘Forget.'”

Bell reports, “Now reconnect to the same network and if it worked, according to OS X Daily, you’ll get full Wi-Fi reception just like that. If it didn’t work, there’s another fix you can try.”

Simple instructions for the other fix in the full article here.

  1. Another bullshit Gate, omg. AntenaGate, BatteryGate, GlassGate, HeatGate, now WifiGate, and the most recent FireGate, why always this fucking haters got to create something so stupid, just for try to stop the unstoppable. For love of god can the media ass morons leave apple and us alone.

Tomorrow some moron is gonna wake up and say that he never had back problems and he started suffering that since he got the new iPad because is heavier that the iPad 2. MF.

Here is now courtesy from phonearena another bullshit, the FireGate or ChargerGate. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Wi-Fi-signal-strength-an-issue-for-users-of-the-new-Apple-iPad_id28306 a bunch of bullshit.

  2. I have had the “new iPad” since day 1 and have had no WiFi issues at all. It does run a little warmer under some circumstances, but is not uncomfortable to hold at all. I am very glad I upgraded from the iPad 2. This machine is faster and “oh that display.”

  3. The problem is real for number of users including myself. In my case the “simple” solutions are ineffective. Hopefully this will be addressed with a quick iOS update.
There’s no way this can turn into “wifi-gate” at this time either….the media is far too concerned about “overheating-gate”!

Oh, I wish. But, just this morning, the local news was trumpeting this bullshit, along with a mistaken claim that the new iPad had a ‘hidden’ change that made older smart covers not work. It’s been declared already that the ‘change’ is poorly aligned polarities in the magnets in the cover.

  4. Interesting I did note to my surprise the Verizon LTE on my new iPad was at least twice as fast as my home Wi-Fi, I couldn’t believe it. (Of course WAAAAAY faster, like 3-10X, than my 3G First Gen iPad). So maybe I’ll give that a shot.

  5. I used to have constant wifi drops and trouble connecting to wifi with my iPad 2 to an ad hoc network. The work around was to increase the brightness level. As far as I now, it’s still an issue. I highly recommend this.

  6. I was very happy when I first had the new iPad on my hands. I didn’t notice this at first, but when I took the tablet to my backyard, and my iPhone was able to pick up my router signal without a hassle, and the iPad didn’t found the network at all, this issue became a nightmare to me. After looking for a solution to this issue for quite a lot of time, I was just about to give up., because all of the step by step guides which I found didn’t solve my problem with the wifi reception. Finally I had the luck to land on a review of a case from Pong Research. They produce this really interesting cases that have an antennae in between layers of the back cover, which redirects and boost the wifi signals into/from the antennae built-in the iPad, this fixes the new iPad 3 wifi range problems .
