“In early March Apple was granted a patent for a never before seen patent regarding Apple’s forthcoming iWallet,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.
“The patent focused on parental controls for an iWallet and made a connection to a vague iTunes application and/or methodology. Today, another major component of Apple’s iWallet was revealed in yet another granted patent,” Purcher reports. “Today we learn about major security measures that the iWallet will employ and see more of the iTunes financial app that is temporarily being dubbed ‘MobilePay.'”
Purcher reports, “The app takes on the appearance of a convenient tab found in iTunes, just like it is today for your apps, music or photos. Today’s report fills you in on the latest features that Apple is thinking of bringing to the iWallet along with a great number of screenshots of various iWallet functions.”

Excellent. Now you’ll see even more Apple fanboys crowding around Starbucks clamoring to pay with their hipster iWallet.
Drink Starbucks weak, emasculated coffee? No fucking thanks! Cafe Nero, Pret A Manger or my local coffee shop get my trade.
Yes but will the iwallet give me the Starbucks reward points? I already use my Starbucks card on my Starbucks app on my iPhone. I’ve even seen someone holding up an iPad to be scanned!
Give me 2% cash back on all my iWallet purchases and I will be ALL IN.
Nice to see that Apple is steadily at work on this. Take your time guys and get it right.
First, they took away my Walkman, and I said nothing because I was happy.
Then they took away my phone, and I said nothing because I was happier.
Then they took away my PDA, and I said nothing because I was happier.
Then they took away my watch, and I said nothing because I was happier.
Then they took away my alarm clock, and I said nothing because I was happier.
Then they took away my DVD player, and I said nothing because I was happier.
Then they took away my newspaper, and I said nothing because I was happier.
Then they took away my PC, and I said nothing because I was happier.
… GPS, Books, Gameboy, Playstation, Encyclopedias, phone book, maps, photo albums, etc…
Now, they’re going to take away my wallet, and I’ll have one less thing to carry with me.
They just keep making me happy!

I could see Apple will become the largest transaction company in the world within a few years. Knowing Apples ways, they would charge less in fee’s and could rack in 100’s of billions.
AAPL goes to $1650 easily and then some.
iTunes has one ONE main problem. They do not know how to be a bank/ credit card company.
I had someone used iTunes account and they just do not get it. Someone bought music on my account!
No one at Apple to call. Leave an email. No option for theft. So select no download. Get offer to allow the stole song to be redownloaded. I DID NOT want the music. I did not order it.
Apple’s solution was to refund money. Good. Shut off my card. Bad. How do I order other things?
And tell me to call my card service. STUPID. Apple charged me not the bank.
Anyone else have this problem?
Unauthorized purchase in your account …. Who has your password?
had the same problem. went to the apple support website. emailed them. they got back to me within hours. refunded everything. closed my account. asked me to change my password (make it stronger) and if they want me to reopen the account after that? i said yes. account worked again after a few hours. one of the best support experiences ever.
Apple absolutely must do this to change Wall Street’s attitude toward the company. Something has to smooth out those product cycles that can make or break Apple’s share price. Apple needs some nice huge cashflow that’s separate from hardware. Apple practically has everything already in place so all it has to do is pull the trigger by putting NFC in all of its mobile devices.
This looks like it will be part of the next iPhone with NFC which will make it good for mobile payments.
They can make it as good as they want ill still roll with cash. Not everything needs to be handled by our personal pocket computers.
yes they do
Cant believe it! Android already sporting NFC technology, AND is forecasted to take off with the recent Galaxy S3 sales.
Android fragmentation may make secure payment processing a problematic experience.
