Decoding the clues of ‘See’ and ‘Touch’ in the Apple special event invitation

Anthony Wing Kosner writes for Forbes, “Here are the leading rumors about Wednesday’s events based on the clues ‘see,’ and ‘touch.'”

Rumor: The Release of the iPad3
See: The almost certain high-resolution retina display.
Touch: The faster quad-core A6 processor or a dual-core A5X chip will produce a qualitatively better “feel.”

      1. Not to make it sexual or anything, but does the word “hit-whore” come to mind? Some people are so short of original ideas they will say anything to be published and get hits on their articles. But I guess it worked….

        1. Hit whore and a master of baiting. Guilty on both counts, your honor. As I’ve stated before (yawn), wake me when they take the stage. Until then, it’s all speculation…

    1. Yes, I’ve been thinking the same thing. They’re going to make an iPod Touch with a 7″ screen. This way, they can still say that anything less than a 9″ screen is inappropriate for a tablet. Funny, why the punditry hasn’t picked up on this…

    2. Yes, you are. Plus, Apple traditionally releases new iPods in August/September, and since a new iPad is due (and, of course, the Apple TV rumors are rampant!), no one is thinking about an iPod touch.

      1. No doubt there will be an iPad 3 announcement – I was suggesting that a 7″ Touch could be the “one more thing.” The use of the word ‘touch’ in the invite seems strangely deliberate…

  1. I can see someday an iPad with a 3D display and multiple sensor cameras detecting hand movements hovering over, but not touching the screen. Sort of like a Kinect or Minority Report iPad. That would sem to be the next direction in touch interface (& keeping your iPad screen clean!). Hopefully Appe has patented such ideas. This would work well with desktops too and avoiding the direct and messy finger touch.

  2. The comments above seem almost as idiotic as the article they are referring to. Can’t wait for March 7th when everyone will be backtracking their responses and justifying their errors.. it looks like it is happening already (re: well a 7-8″ tablet derp a derp only if it’s a remote a derp a derpie derp). Bite me know-it-all retards.. wait for the announcement before making comments so concrete. Your small sweaty heads are just making empty guesses at this point. 🙂

  3. Could mean immediate availability, ie: you can get yours today.

Or, I like the idea of an iPod “Touch” update with 3G, GPS, Bluetooth 4, and maybe a bigger screen.

    1. thats a interesting position… having an iPadMini is a bigger iPodTouch.

Apple has the iPodTouch already which is basically a iPhone without the 3G network and sim slot – this helped Apple with mass ordering of components by assembling same components and similar sizes for actually two devices. Smart.

This same part to part does not work as perfectly with iPhone to iPad. However some components like a camera and memory chips and processor does – as it does with the AppleTV also.

The iTouch is a odd item – cool – but it is a gaming unit – it took over the iPod sales mostly. So, if Apple were to create a iPadMini – it jumps into where the iPodTouch is. This might be a good move and would be nice. But I think we will see the iPodTouch slowly vanish.

I still love the idea of a virtual device – self docking self syncing – bluetooth and wifi connecting – this DEVICE when nearby to your iMac will become a virtual keyboard. When you walk away with the device it becomes a iPad. When you bring it nearby your TV it becomes an amazing DVR and TV remote / controller. And, if you have the AppleTV unit connected to your TV – this new device becomes can become the gaming controller.

So my wish or dream or prediction – would be this 8″w x 4″h virtual device – will all the great Apple “i” things we already know from the touch to the phone to the pod to the pad…

An iSlate – which transforms to any useful device depending where you take it. Neighbour your TV it assists you this way – neighbour your iMac and it becomes a keyboard – walk away and it is a iPad. Take in your car and its your navigator assistance.

  4. It’s a message sent to reporters, bloggers and such.

See as in see the wonderful retina display.

Touch as in the new iPad will be available for a test drive.

  5. A new iPad is obvious and any improvements to a product that claims it is new is obvious.

The example of the iPhone getting a better camera – places the obvious – that mass order of the new camera will then transcend to the new iPad. So again, an obvious step.

The move to a higher cleaner resolution screen has been rumoured long ago – again iPhone got the retina increase so it makes sense Apple will take this leap with the iPad3.

OBVIOUS so its not really rumours at all… its a natural progression and choice Apple is making.

THAT SAID – what will be truly be new – no one other then the “observer” offered an interesting suggestion. The integration of AppleTV (iTV of short) and iPAD with a tiny receiver to your MEGA HDTV screen – hence Apple doesn’t invent the TV but add value to your purchase as it has with the original AppleTV.
NOW thanks to the “observer” thats worth reading – thats a cool rumour — he has an interesting prediction. He’s thinking far an beyond any of these writers who seem to just regurgitate other sites. They might as well just provide a link to the site they read to write the article.

  6. As a hard core gamer, I wish touch meant a gamepad controller for the iPad and/or ATV. So many games are just terribly frustrating on the touch screen.
Anyhow, I know it won’t come true, at least it looks like ATV3 will be real..
