Apple’s iPad 3 will have 4G LTE networking, says source who correctly called March 7 special event

“The same source that originally told iMore [that] Apple would be holding their iPad 3 event on March 7 has now let us know that the announcement will include 4G LTE networking,” Rene Ritchie reports for iMore.

“Sounds like LTE is good to go, though it remains to be seen how Apple will handle the many different 4G bands being used internationally,” Ritchie reports. “The Wall Street Journal previously reported that AT&T and Verizon would be getting LTE-equipped iPads, but had no word on carriers outside the U.S.”

Ritchie reports, “Despite recent uncertainty about the process, iMore is also still hearing that the iPad 3 will ship with a quad-core processor.”

  1. If it’s 4G you know Apple had to do something major to keep the battery life. So I can only imagine how the battery life would be with 3G as my 4G phone that I always have the 4G LTE turned off.

  2. 4GLTE? So what? It’s irrelevant to most people; in the UK the government haven’t even auctioned the frequencies that it will run on, so there’s not even a hint of a 4G network for some years. This will hold true for a large part of the world; you know, that bit outside of the borders of the USA where most of the world’s population live…

    1. Maybe if you got rid of that nutball Cameron you might get LTE. With Cameron you’ll be lucky to have public roads in a couple of years.

  3. @Rorschach – so Apple should hold back in development just because some countries out there aren’t ready to move forward? Just in case you’ve forgotten – even though Apple operates in many countries, it’s an American company, and the USA is its largest market. But consider that, if enough people in the UK get an iPad 3, this might serve to pressure Ofcom to get the frequencies out there for LTE and get the buildout started.
