Asymco: Tablet units will outsell traditional PCs in autumn 2013

“Question is when?” Horace Deidu asks for Asymco. “I began by projecting growth rates of various market participants including the leading Windows PC makers (HP, Acer, Dell, Lenovo and Acer), the combined “others” and the Mac. Deidu reports, “The day when the tablet market (by units) will exceed that of traditional PCs will come sometime in the fall of 2013.”

  1. Nice job, Horace. Good thing you included Acer twice in your figures.

I began by projecting growth rates of various market participants including the leading Windows PC makers (HP, Acer, Dell, Lenovo and Acer)…

  2. Allready there at the Best Buy where I work. We are currently carrying only three tower models in the store. Pads and laptops have outsold PC’s for months now. A customer told me the other day…”S__t boy, Wally World has way more PC’s than you! I wanted to say…”By all means, I think you need to buy your computer at Wally World! Have a blessed day.”

  3. Depending on the iPad 3/HD debut next this week, the crossover might come sooner than expected. 30% of wireless users say they are planing to snap one up already. Depending on the “wow” factor, the game might change….again.
