Purported ‘iPad 3’ front panels show identically placed home button and camera

“Further disputing continued speculation that Apple could do away with the home button on its next-generation iPad, a new picture claiming to show glass panels for black and white third-generation iPad models show the home button and front-facing camera located in positions identical to the iPad 2,” Slash Lane reports for AppleInsider.

“The pictures of the so-called “iPad 3″ digitizer and front glass panel were posted on Thursday by Fix-iPhones.com,” Lane reports. “he black and white front panels appear to be the same part, complete with redesigned ribbon cable, that surfaced out of the Far East last week.”

Lane reports, “The front panel once again suggests that Apple’s third-generation iPad will look largely identical to the iPad 2, with a home button at the bottom of the device and a hole for a forward-facing camera at the top.”

  1. Photos of parts – aluminum back cases – front panels with ribbon connectors – A5X chip – serial numbers – product numbers – code the software – showing these photos – is this legal.

Seems they are coming from the manufactures. They should be under a contact oath yet it is known they will do anything to expose Apple for a few bucks. Careful you people.

  2. “a new picture claiming to show glass panels for black and white third-generation iPad models”

This is surprising! The new iPad is black and white?I thought they’d be color. I was used to color. 😀

  3. When we are making a new product, we make quite a few prototypes. My guess is many of the discarded prototype pieces were tossed and someone found them before they were put in the recycle. Some chinaman is laughing about now with his trick of ‘leaking’ the new iPad.

  4. I’m hoping they don’t ever get rid of the physical home button. It’s too useful. You need some way to force-close an app and get back to the home screen. Without a physical home button, I don’t see how you do that without losing screen real estate.

(But then, Apple has surprised me before…)

  5. New iPad will look the same as the old one. It will olso cost the same.

    It will have:
    – double battery life
    – double performance
    – double memory
    – front and back camera
    – 4G
    – retina display

And then everybody will buy one.
