  1. Given that PC has started actual declines while the Mac keeps growing I am betting we will never see the PC grow at the rate the Mac does ever again and we may not see much growth left in the Windows PC market.

I’m betting that Windows will continue to sell large numbers, but that number will slowly go down over time and never significantly increase again.

    1. It’s like Gibbon’s Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire…lasting for centuries, sure of its entrenchment, profligate in its amusements, dismissive of its discontents, and oblivious to its own bowel-consuming flaws.

The real Kool-Aid is being consumed not by upstart fanatics from the hinterlands, but by the toga-clad, inbred I.T. Overlords who languish in their vomitoriums while the newly invigoured populace begins to invade the sanctum to exact a long-awaited, appropriate, excruciating revenge.

  2. I’ve been using Apple products since high school. I have never owned anything but Apple. However we should watch out for hubris. Ford was the dominant car company until GM became the dominant one by far. What is good for GM is good for America remember? Well look what happened. Sears was the dominant department store for decades. Kodak the same in photography. Look at them now. Apple is on a roll but there’s no reason to think that they can’t falter at some point. That some kids in a garage come up with something entirely different while a large and arrogant Apple (with SJ long gone) stumbles. It happens all the time. Not today but 10 years out?

    1. I think Job’s guiding principle of ‘stay hungry, stay foolish’ is part of Apple’s way. I don’t think there’s much chance of Apple becoming either complacent or filled with false pride.

  3. “Apple’s (AAPL) Mac computer business will continue to expand faster than the PC market”

These analysts are sooooo brilliant and insightful. I’m so very happy that I have them to tell me what is going to be happening.

  4. “He notes Mac market share reached 5.6%, ‘its highest in 16 years, while its share of PC revenues rose to 11.3%,’” Ray reports.

And Apple’s share of PC profits? Even higher.
