“Siri is many things, but it seems she is not a good secret keeper,” Seth Weintraub reports for 9to5Mac.
“A few tipsters reached out and told us that Siri now speaks Japanese,” Weintraub reports. “Rumors earlier this month said Apple’s AI speech recognition interface would gain Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and possibly Russian. It now appears that Japanese is about to be announced… that is if Siri is being honest with us.”

Another use for Siri as a universal language translator?
“Siri, can you ask this man in Japanese how much is that doggie in the window?’
Enormous potential.
Sugoi!
But will she speak Scottish?
Typical blabbermouth woman. I’ll bet that male British version doesn’t spill his guts like this.
He might after a few pints.
Heh – just tried asking “what languages do you speak” and the list he came up with had Japanese first on the list. Seems he can’t be trusted to keep secrets either. 😉
Do we have to reset the device to be in each specific language environment? Or can Siri switch between languages within one environment? Can Siri translate? If so, this will be great.

I hope she doesn’t get fired for this indiscretion. Apple is hard on leakers…
Привет Сири. Как дела?
Очень хорошо, спасибо!
Let’s hope she’s not getting the Vapors….
I randomly ask Siri to do things I know she can’t do. The other day I asked “connect to home wifi” and she replied “I’m unable to find any wifi hotspots” Interesting?
It would be nice if she could automatically recognize a language and reply in same.
I’m also anxious for the addition of Japan to Siri’s list countries she works in. I’d like to use her for weather and directions.
