Apple iTV unlikely to launch in 2012 due to IGZO display panel manufacturing concerns, sources say

“The chance is low for Apple to launch so-called iTV products in the second quarter of 2012 as there are no signs indicating that Sharp is ready to ship IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) panels to Apple, according to industry sources,” Siu Han and Steve Shen report for DigiTimes.

“Although Sharp’s 8G lines are able to produce panels in 32- 46- and even 55-inch sizes, the Japan-based panel maker seems unready to start shipping the IGZO panels needed for the production of iTV sets, the sources indicated,” Han and Shen report. “Additionally, yield rates of Sharp’s IGZO panels are also a major concern.”

  1. Dam!! STFU with this itv talk it will happen when it happens, all you annoying sources and analysts need to do is sit on your stupid *** and be amazed when it does come out

    1. “Shutting up these rumors.” What? Send out hit squads? Jail the bastards? Hey Skippy, ever hear of freedom of speech? Common sense? You really think AAPL should have the power to control what people say? What they think? When they take a crap? Geez! What an idiot! Even for a fanboy, what a fucking idiot! Apple generally benefits beyond belief by the “rumor mills”. It’s called free advertising. AAPL can’t manufacture products without some or most of the details leaked at some point in the design and manufacturing process. It just is simply too much to hide when so many people are involved. Again, AAPL gets tremendous upside from the buzz created by all those who report facts or guesses. C’mon, speak with an adult about this. They’ll have more time to explain it to you. Now go back down in the basement and play some games.

  2. And in other news and rumours: Apple planned a February event to introduce the new education product, the iWatch.

Your lectures can be recorded on your watch and via iCloud synced directly to your iPad.
You control your iWatch via touch screen or Siri supporting whisper mode so you can control it even in the busiest class rooms.
Your notes are available to you on your wrist while taking your exam.
The built-in front facing camera, with FaceTime support, allows you to take photos of your neighbors notes, the blackboard or compromising situation of your collage mates.
Twitter integration in the iWatch allows you to find the answers even before you can ask them.

In addition, the iWatch Designer available for the Mac allows you to design new faces, alarm tones and vibration sequences.
