On Topic: My wife and I have an iPad 2 (LOVE it) and a MacBook (excellent!) that we use all the time. One will not replace the other, not for a generation or two, and they are used for somewhat different tasks. The iPad we take with us when we need to travel light. The MacBook when we know we will need to “work”. Can you “work” on the iPad? Sure. Is the MacBook light? Sure. But, when you need one more than the other, take the one you NEED.
So … NO … tablets will not replace notebooks – not any time soon. 2nd notebooks? Certainly. Notebooks for school-kids? Of course. Notebooks overall? Again … Not Soon.

I was actually inquiring as to how he knew since it was not obvious in any shape or form from auramac’s statement. Therefore, when asking for clarification about how he knew I covered all of the necessary areas which may have lead to that particular assessment and conclusion. Does that help?
Actually I agree that it is silly to call someone ‘commie’. And I understood your point.
But auramac is another long time MDN visitor, so people here have a pretty good idea where stands on a lot of issues.
What gets old is seeing unregistered names pop up with comments like that.
You never know if it is someone from the left or right speaking their mind or pretending to be opposite to throw more flame bait.
It seems I have entered into the middle of long running conversations which I have no knowledge. However, basing my conclusion on what you have said, and what has previously been posted, I still see this as a lack of communication skills and an inability to hold meaningful dialogue. Also, allowing one’s own predisposition towards one’s political/social leaning to affect the conversation and into “flame bait” territory lacks sophistication on the part of the poster/responder. I see this simply as catering to the lowest common denominator which is not conducive to a healthy environment in which to solve problems.
I love how MDN takes an article, reposts it with a baiting title and you little trolls come a running.

Question: Are notebooks or netbooks categorized different than laptops? Just curious since one seems scaled down and the latter offers alternative desktop computing. Presently, believe the iPad will replace the low end while progressing forward to the high end.
Who knows when you factor in Siri or some other technology not yet introduced to go with the tablets.
I’m a Republican and I don’t see tables replacing notebook computers. I like having a keyboard and can’t stand touching the screen and smudging it up.
