“Firefox 9 has just been released for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux,” OS X Daily reports.
“The latest version brings some significant boosts to javascript performance, some theme fixes, and a variety of other under-the-hood enhancements,” OS X Daily reports. “Probably the most noticeable addition will be for OS X Lion users though, with the addition of two-fingered swipe gesture navigation.”
OS X Daily reports, “For those with Mac OS X Lion and a trackpad or Magic Mouse, the new two-finger gestures are: Swipe left to go forward a page; Swipe right to go back a page… Firefox 9 still does not include native Full Screen support for Lion, and although you can enter its own fullscreen mode with Command-Shift-F, it’s not as fluid and the arrow buttons aren’t there for those who are keystroke shy.”

FireFox 9 already?
At this rate, they’ll be at version 500 something in a few years.
Yep, they seem to have fallen into Spinal Tap mentality.
“Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You’re on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you’re on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?”
“I don’t know.”
“Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?”
“Put it up to eleven.”
“Eleven. Exactly. One louder.”
“Why don’t you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?”
[pause] “These go to eleven.”
At least on my old Power Mac G5 that I use as a server and for watching TV in my bedroom the Firefox version is stuck at 3, so my web video plug-ins don’t get broken like they do on my Intel laptops.
First Apple’s backward scrolling, now Firefox’s backward trackpad swipes.
What’s going on?
Now..if they would only actually fix Lion.
Preview crashes constantly
TextEdit crashes constantly
Can’t maintain connection to iDisk
Spotlight searches lockup and behave erratically
If was only running Lion on a giant tabletop in a casino somewhere this OS might make sense. But as it is…it represents the failure of Apple engineers and the waning influence of Steve in his last days.
As for Firefox, doing constant, seemingly minor updates is just annoying. They could package them into one a quarter but instead they push them out creating a level of ill will. Hence…I only use it every once in a while..
Sounds like a permissions error.. found a fix that is working for others PR:

If this doesn’t work, I recommend doing a clean install of Mac OS X Lion PR.. I use Preview, TextEdit and Spotlight with no issues at all in Lion.
If that doesn’t work, try this. It resets all permissions in Lion ab initio.

Nobody is forcing you to use Firefox. Safari is built in. Remember?
Ohh this is defo gonna increase productivity for us down at the office!
Overall, firefox 9 is definitely an improvement that now it loads pretty fast. This was only glitch in it compared to other browsers
