“Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster spent the day after Thanksgiving as he has every year since 2008: Standing in an Apple retail store counting sales,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune.
“In eight hours, he (or his team) watched iPads and Macs walk out the door at the rate of 14.8 and 10.1 per hour, respectively,” P.E.D. reports. “In a separate note, Deutsche Bank’s Chris Whitmore reports that the iPhone 4S was selling so briskly on Black Friday that about 75% of the Apple Store he called ran out of one model or another. Apple replenished supplies overnight and the next day only 30% of the stores reported iPhone 4S stock outs.”

I was a day late…got a new Mac Mini on Saturday!
I’m one of those buying a new MBP! Quad-core i7 waa hoo!
Gotta love Gene Munster, stalking customers in an Apple store to sample sell-throughs! Guess there’s no better way to conduct POLTRY analyses with LEMN curves for popular products as cold calling never works!
Not surprised at the results given BUN analysis for past 3 years vectoring year-over-year growth.
I bought a new MBP, replacing my old Mac which was also the very first Apple product I bought 7 years ago (still works great though).
My question is: Is Apple selling enough products to actually beat Wall Street numbers this quarter? These percentages are meaningless if analysts have already set numbers that Apple can’t possibly exceed.
Was at the apple store in Santa Clara on Saturday . I asked a sales guy if it was busy. He said it was very slow more like a tuesday. Maybe a lot of people went on Friday.
The 11.6″ MBA box is so small, I saw people carrying multiple boxes under their arms like we used to carry schoolbooks!
I bought a new iMac (MC812LL/A) to replace my *very* long-in-the-tooth, yet fully functional, 1999 Power Mac G3.

And yes, I bought the new machine on Friday, the 25th. Got a new Apple TV as a promo and, the iMac is eligible for a free Lion upgrade. Good times.
