“Nokia Oyj declined as much as 6 percent after analysts said the company’s first Windows Phones shipments were lower than expected,” Diana ben-Aaron reports for Bloomberg.
“Nokia may have shipped less than 1 million units for the quarter, with sales to customers of less than 500,000, James Faucette and other Pacific Crest Securities Inc. analysts wrote in a report dated yesterday,” ben-Aaron reports. “Nokia announced the 420 euro ($568) Lumia 800 and 270 euro Lumia 710 last month for shipment this quarter.”
ben-Aaron reports, “Nokia traded 5.5 percent lower at 4.34 euros as of 11:32 a.m. in Helsinki. That was the third-biggest slide on the Stoxx Europe 600 Price Index.”

Me too! and the only reason was she was married to an Microsoft engineer and she “had” to use the phone, as she lustfully described how the apps for her company worked on iPhone and Androids, but she couldn’t demo on the windows phone.
Pitiful.
Did she lustfully describe it to her husband or fellow coworker? In which case was she dressed for the occasion or simply unclothed? Does holding a Microsoft phone have an effect on her nether regions?
I live in Redmond, working for a large aerospace company. In all my local travels to stores, kid’s events, etc., I’ve never seen more than a dozen since launch. When MS changed their policy to only pay for cell contracts with MS phones, folks reluctantly gave up their iPhones and ‘roids, and took the company dog food. The clueless use them. The smarter ones auto-fwd their MS phones to their personal iPhone’s and ‘roids and use them still. My neighbor took his out of the box to register it, then back in to the overhead storage cabinet connected to a power brick. Its funny when I call him, I know he’s answering on his iPhone 4. He did go to the recent stockholders mtg in Seattle and brought his W7, leaving his real phone in his coat pocket. Probably the only time so many W7 were seen together Funny. Sad. More funny.
Chaz, I infer from your description that she worked for a company other than Microsoft, and that her blockheaded and bullying husband, thinking only of himself, was cruelly forcing her into submission. Or am I reading too much into it?

I’d actually like to see WinPho7 do fairly well and further fragment the non-iPhone market. Microsoft is no longer a threat to Apple, I’d like to see them dent Google a little.
Slowly, there is talk through the grapevine that the days of plenty for Google is going to end. The thermonuclear weapon that Steve Jobs promised to unleash on Google is Siri, the intelligence assistant with a personality, that will render the jewel of Google’s riches: search and display ads a less valuable asset. Google’s challenge to Siri, by making Google’s Voice as capable as Siri, will only diminish and cannibalize its ads business. Google is not going to kill the goose that lays the golden egg. Here Google is finding itself placed between a rock and a hard place.
I do believe you are correct. However, it’s too early to start feeling sorry for Google. Like the Nazis in WWII with their secret weapons, the Google boys will continue to roll out one whiz-bang thing after another in their quest to subjugate the world. Resist!

Guys.. this is huge… this is Microsofts ultimate bet on phones.. “When Nokia ships,we’ll show you”… they kept saying… now… this?… It sucks because, for the first time, MS is doing something original.. and they’re being (seemingly) punished for it in the market… The good news is they’re making lots and lots of money off the hapless Android hardware makers

the sad thing is, a lot of corporate IT departments are actually reviewing Win phones to replace their crackberries. For whatever reasons, Apple has a long way to go to convince megacorps to abandon their “buddies” in Redmond.
In other news: a friend of mine just mentioned that her company is forcing a migration from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Her company-provided machine is running XP. That’s the kind of “loyalty” MS has in the marketplace. The opportunity is right for Apple to offer high-end corporate hardware, starting with iPhones and iPads deployed at the management level. Not like they know what to do with workstations anyway.

Whilst I’d love this story to be true, at this stage it’s nothing more than BS stock manipulation from an anal-yst.
Right now the Lumia 800 has been on sale for one week in the UK. I’m fairly sure that’s the only country it’s been released in so far – other European releases are planned for this year, with the US and China to follow in early 2012.
It is thus *far* too early to tell quite how well it will sell.
One thing to bear in mind though – if they really have sold 500,000, then that’s 500,000 in just one week of sales. Whilst that’s not at iPhone 4S levels it’s still very.
As I said – I smell BS anal-yst stock manipulation.
