Explosive growth takes Apple’s Mac to over 5% global market share, a 15-year high

“Fueled by strong gains in Asia Pacific during the September quarter, Apple saw its worldwide share of the PC market pass the 5 percent mark for the first time in 15 years, according to a new analysis,” Josh Ong reports for AppleInsider.

“Analyst Charlie Wolf of Needham & Co. informed investors on Wednesday that Mac shipment growth in the third quarter of calendar 2011 outpaced the PC market for the 22nd straight quarter,” Ong reports. “Apple’s 24.6 percent growth dwarfed the 5.3 percent growth in total PC shipments.”

Ong reports, “The Cupertino, Calif., Mac maker posted record Mac sales of 4.89 million for the period. According to Wolf, that was enough to push Apple past the “magic 5 percent mark,” up from 4.7 percent in June and 4.4 percent a year ago.”

  1. So, Apple is already vying for most valuable company in the world, and its Mac line only has 5% global market share?
How’s that for potential growth and increased future value?

We will look back on these present days and consider today to be Apple’s infancy.

  2. “Asshole” is a relative term. Was Steve Jobs and asshole…maybe…probably…to those who didn’t meet his standards. Ahhhh…standards…..remover those?

So, yeah, people fall into one of three categories:
ASSHOLES: (i.e.- innovators, movers, shakers, general GTD-ears)
    BULLSHITTERS: (complainers, self-doubters, concealers)

If your not one of the above two—-congratulations!

YOU’RE OFFICIALLY IRRELEVANT…you can pick up your lame-ass certificate on the way out…..

  3. If China were to adopt the Apple logo as its mascot, I think the Mac sales would explode worldwide in time to come. While the West is mired down with mediocrity and is content with the antediluvian Windows dinosaur, China represents the brave new world of consumer spending.

This has been proven in history, the US was able to shape the world and define taste because it was the leader; now it is going to lose the crown and be a follower instead.
