Microsoft CEO Ballmer: ‘We are in the Windows era; we were, we are, and we always will be’

“Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer during the company’s annual shareholder’s meeting made the declaration that Windows would never go away,” Electronista reports.

“When asked if the company was in a post-PC era, as Apple’s late Steve Jobs said, he denied it completely, saying that Windows would always be at the forefront,” Electronista reports.

“The expansion of smartphones and tablets was a ‘fantastic thing,’ he said, since it only helped Microsoft,” Electronista reports. “‘We are in the Windows era — we were, we are, and we always will be,’ Ballmer insisted. ‘Through the power of Windows, the PC will be a tablet machine, will be a reading machine, will be a note-taking machine.'”

MacDailyNews Take: Now there’s one seriously delusional bastage.

“There’s no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance.” – Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, April 30, 2007

As always, Ballmer’s completely packed F.O.S.

Hoist! May Steve Ballmer remain Microsoft CEO for as long as it takes!

        1. The syndrome dates back to the US Civil War, when a Union general announced, “My headquarters are in the saddle.” This led his troops to observe that his headquarters were located where his hindquarters should be.

  1. “We are in a Windows Era”… Well that’s depressing news!

“the PC will be a tablet machine”? Excuse me… Didn’t they have a 10 year head start with no market and no excitement and Apple Steve Jobs comes along and shows them the way and they want to take credit? They should pay Apple royalties for simply showing them the way! Tablets, phones, music players, computer OS…

    1. Arthur fights the Black Knight who is blocking his passage at the bridge and, after a short battle, the Knight’s left arm is severed.

Even at this the Knight refuses to stand aside, insisting “‘Tis but a scratch”, and that he has “had worse”, and fights on while holding his sword with his remaining arm. Next his right arm is cut off, but the knight still does not concede.

As the Knight is literally disarmed, Arthur assumes the fight is over and kneels to offer a prayer to God. The Black Knight interrupts Arthur’s prayer of thanks by kicking him in the side of the head and accusing him of cowardice. When Arthur points out the Black Knight’s injuries, the Knight insists “It’s just a flesh wound!”

In response to the continued kicks and insults, Arthur chops off the Black Knight’s right leg. At this point, the Knight still will not admit to defeat, instead he replies by saying, “Right, I’ll do you for that”, and attempts to ram his body into Arthur’s, by hopping on his left leg. Arthur is incredulous at the Black Knight’s persistence, and angrily asks the Black Knight if he is going to “bleed on me” to win. The Black Knight replies by saying, “I’m invincible!” to which Arthur replies “You’re a loony!”

With an air of resignation, Arthur finally cuts off the left leg as well and sheathes his sword. The Black Knight, now reduced to a mere stump of a man, finally concedes by saying, “All right, we’ll call it a draw.”

  2. I have a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne (the real stuff) reserved for the day, MicroCrap files for Chapter 11 and ceases to exist. Shouldn’t take an eternity at the rate it looses marketshare left and right, WP7 fails harder each day, while spending more and more money (Skype, anyone?) on nonsense.

iCal that : 2030 (if not earlier) MicroShit goes belly up. For good.

May Ballmer reign as long as it takes.

Microsoft free since years, and much happier….

  3. “When asked if the company was in a post-PC era…”

Does Ballmer (or maybe the reporter) not understand what Steve Jobs meant by a “post-PC” era? It doesn’t mean that there will be NO PCs, nor does it mean that there will be an end to today’s primary PC OSs (and make no mistake, Windows is the dominant PC OS). It simply means that the big beige desktop is no longer going to be necessary as a primary device. In a world where the primary vehicle is an increasingly more efficient, compact car, there is still a big need for trucks (to use the Jobs metaphor). Steve Jobs did not envision a post PC era where Windows, Linux, Unix, OSX no longer had a place. I think the jury is still out whether Microsoft’s post PC OSs will be successful.

  4. Well Ballmer finally got seething right for a change. They were, they are, and always will be the Windows that copied Apple Apple was copied from, being copied now, and will always be copied by Microsoft to create Windows for the less than informed or dirt cheap or cheap as hell customer base.

Still Microsoft has no taste or adult behavior.

    1. Not feeling any love for Ballmer? Maybe his left nut can make things up for ya. Haha. Just kidding.

Keep up your Ballmer bashing, Jane, we love to see your anger spill out. Peace. 🙂
