Google pledges to keep backing Android device makers in lawsuits

“Google chairman Eric Schmidt’s tour of Asia saw him remark that Google would continue to support companies that were under legal attack for alleged patent violations in Android,” MacNN reports. “He told those in Taiwan that Google ‘will support them.'”

“He pointed to support for HTC as an example, referring to HTC borrowing Google patents to countersue Apple,” MacNN reports. “‘We have been supporting HTC in its dispute with Apple because we think that the Apple thing is not correct,’ Schmidt told the local press.”

MacNN reports, “HTC has so far been on the losing side of patent disputes with Apple, having lost an infringement claim and being found violating some Apple patents itself. Schmidt’s visit to Asia is believed to be an attempt to shore up support for Android at a time when multi-OS supporters are or are considering moving more of their effort to Windows Phone.”

      1. I think Ballmer already knows the Asian OEM’s are looking for another alternative. Look for Ballmer to close some deals before the end of the year. I’m thinking a Samsung deal is not too far in the future.

  1. Hey Eric my man, good to hear you are over there kicking ass and taking names of those who will not help us fight Apple.

We will win this one worldwide with help from Korea and Taiwan. You might want to stop by China and get them on our side too.

We can crush Apple with their help.

I hope those in attendance got Eric to write Billion dollar checks.

“‘We have been supporting HTC in its dispute with Apple because we think that the Apple thing is not correct,’”
