“Apple on Wednesday said it had found a few problems that are leading some iPhone customers to experience less-than-expected battery life with iPhones running its latest software,” Ina Fried reports for AllThingsD.
Fried reports, “‘A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices,’ Apple said in a statement to AllThingsD. ‘We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks.'”

Alex Heath reports for Cult of Mac, “Apple has seeded iOS 5.0.1 to developers in the iOS Dev Center. The beta adds enhanced multitasking gestures for the original iPad, fixes the battery life bug that has extensively plagued iPhone 4S users, and adds several other fixes.”

And what about the battery drain on iPhone 4 users.
Bloody thing gets HOT.
According to the statement Apple released, they said it addressed battery issues on some iPhones running iOS5. They didn’t say it was only for the 4S (like CultofMac implied).
I have turned off exchange calendars push and reminders location services and now it is very responsive. Is not a pretty solution, but it was getting mad to wait foa simple application to start of the lock screen accept my password.
I hope they fix it soon.
Even with all that, my iPhone still the best againts any fandroid phone.
Anyone able to confirm this is a “live, wifi” fix? It’d be COOL not being tether to a comp.
What I don’t understand: If everyone is running the same iOS, then why do only some people and not all have battery issues?
Batterygate!
Hey, my wallet’s getting lighter. Is that happening to anyone else?
…. and how about that irritating echo on alerts ………. and how about the voice quality on calls making callers sound like robots….. very disappointed in my new iPhone 4S.
I don’t have any calling issues with my 4S. I haven’t noticed a heat problem either, but the effect on my wallet (I bought off- contract) was substantial 😉
Life is too short to accept less than the best. If you don’t believe that the iPhone 4S is the best, then take it back. Either it is defective, or you need a different phone in order to be satisfied. Either way, take it back.
I’m still having trouble dealing with all the magic.
I have a classic iPad, but this thing (iPhone 4S) seems to have boosted the magic quotient on an order of about 100%.
Hurrah – they’ve added the four-finger multitasking gestures for the iPad 1. I filed a complaint about this omission and it’s good to see it’s been addressed!
I have a one finger reply for you.
4 finger gestures?
I can barely fit 3 fingers on my iPhone screen, especially if it is for a swipe (not a tap).
Time to hire some kids (with tiny fingers) to produce an ad that proves that even a kid can handle all those gestures.
He’s talking about iPad. IPAD. Please read responsibly before replying.
I’ll have to say that after upgrading to 5.0 on my 4, I have not seen any difference at all in battery life. It still drops about 10% an hour on average during heavy use (phone and games and email and web) and hardly at all during standby, perhaps 10% overnight. I charge it once a day and rarely see less than 30% remaining.
