“On October 25, 2011, the US Patent & Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple that reveals their intentions of providing a future version of the iPad with an advanced gesturing-based video editing toolbar,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.
“The new toolbar will provide fixed options for starters yet allow for gesture customization by the more advanced user,” Purcher reports. “”One of the new tools will interestingly allow for on-video annotations. This is great news for those who love taking videos with iOS devices at home, on the road and especially for business.”
Purcher reports, “According to Apple’s new patent documentation, a user will be able to perform gestures on a future version of an iPad display that will directly or indirectly manipulate, control, modify, move, actuate, initiate or generally affect graphical elements such as cursors, icons, media files, lists, text, all or portions of images, or the like within the GUI.”

The patent figures are only there to convey a concept. You didn’t really think that Steve Jobs would have ever allowed an actual example to show in a patent did you, Fredman?. I get your point though. They are goofy at times but par for the course.
I like the annotation idea and the fact I’ll be able to place an arrow in a photo to point something out that I think is fun, silly or hot. They’re little ideas in the evolution of the iPad’s capabilities, yet always nice to read about.
