“As anyone who follows our regular series of ‘Test Photo’ features knows, we enjoy checking out pictures captured by unreleased phones,” Evan Blass reports for Pocketnow.
“The holy grail of such a pursuit is, of course, tracking down an image from the next iPhone,” Blass reports. “And we think that we’ve found one.”

Blass reports, “This (very attractive) photo claims to have been taken by an iPhone 4, but the rest of its EXIF data tells a different story: although the image has been cropped to 2235×2291 (5.12 megapixels), the original picture was a much larger 3264×2448 — or just shy of eight megapixels. What’s more, the lens was recorded as a 4.3mm f/2.4, which is closer to that of a point-and-shoot than the iPhone 4’s actual 3.85mm f/2.8… It was supposedly shot by an Apple engineer eating his lunch at work.”

first.
can it be from a real digital slr?
With a 4.3mm focal length????
=:~)
Hmmm, something fishy with that photo
If I ate that lunch, I’d still be hungry!
I love sushi, but that plate needs some more rolls!
This photo is not very attractive.
C’mon, at least it has a good personality, you should date it once. Look, you’d be doin’ it a favor–lord know that photo doesn’t get out much.
Nothin serious just a light lunch date–no pressure, no promises, whatdya say?
No deal. I found a better looking sushi down the street.
tsk tsk tsk….it’s all about looks with you chics. I’m going to get a plate-lift.
Yeah, guys never care about looks at all…
But really, if you’re going to leak a spy photo, light the bugger a little better than this piece of junk.
This is getting a bit silly. I suppose that means the iPhone 5 is near release after all.
You think? I can’t imagine how you come to that conclusion, what with most release projections giving a date approximately a month from now.
Actually the iPhone5 is closer to “catch-and-release” after that photo.
Mmmmmm. Bait plate…
Looks pretty good if real. I tried retouching it and other than the shaky lens blur it is ok.
Can’t wait to see if this is the real deal.

It’s not iPhone 5 photo
I can see the the iPhone’s reflection in the Mackerel Nigiri! 😉
What an anemic sushi plate.
No styrofoam plates in Apple cafe.
I got some stunning food shots off my iPh 4 in Italy a couple of months ago, which I swear are sharper than this one. Always be sure your lens is clean.
That spec of Wasabi is out of focus
So who is going to be first to unscramble the reflections on the plate to get an image of the camera?
No proof that it actually came from an iPhone 5, I don’t know why all the online stories are making anything of this. How do you prove where this picture came from? I don’t think there is any data inside that says “iPhone 5 8 megapixel camera”
Sorry I just don’t think there is any facts with this at all.
How come when I take the occasional picture with my iPhone 4 it comes out all shitty and blurry? The biggest problem I find is camera shake.
Hmmmm, the rice looks kinda grainy….
For a debut iPhone 5 image, I wish they’d used better lighting as well as a bit of subject dressing. Very bland and amateur. (I’m an imaging expert as well as snob). 😉
There aren’t enough of us.
*shrug.
Ah, the old bait and switch….
