RUMOR: Apple launching next-gen iPhone in October, not September

“Sources with knowledge of the situation say reports claiming AT&T has blacked out employee vacations during the last two weeks of September in preparation for the retail debut of the next iPhone are misinformed,” John Paczkowski reports for AllThingsD.

“‘I don’t know why AT&T’s calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it’s not for an iPhone launch,’ a source familiar with Apple’s plans said,” Paczkowski reports. “So when can we expect the company to uncrate the iPhone 5? ‘October,’ the source said.”

    1. It might be released when icloud comes out or right after. It might also come out with other carriers, that’s what I’ve seen.

      Or can this be iPhones year break, no new iPhone at all?.

  1. That’s a hoot of a phrase, “sources with knowledge of the situation.” Isn’t that what a source is supposed to be? Wouldn’t it be great if some of these bloggers wrote, “Sources with absolutely no knowledge of the situation”?
    Fact is, most of them probably should be writing that all the time.

  2. I’d rather believe Tim Cook who twice mention in the earnings call a major product transition in this quarter. Also the product transition was the reason Apple gave a low guidance for Q4 earnings, the iPhone is the only product line that could have that effect.
