A former refuse collector, 29-year-old Rob Shoesmith, “has been given everything from scented candles and aftershave to use of a £20,000 Chevrolet car, £800 worth of outdoor gear and food from top restaurants,” Metro reports. ‘[He] has so far blagged £40,000 worth of gear.”
“The freebie grabbing is part of a publicity stunt while he camps outside London’s flagship Apple store to be first in line for the new iPhone 5 later this year,” Metro reports. “He quit working as a binman three weeks ago to work full-time as a marketing executive for Medl Mobile, which makes apps for Apple phones.”

MacDailyNews Take: Dude’s gonna need to blag up a new tent if Apple’s next phone end up being the “iPhone 4S.”
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Lava_Head_UK” for the heads up.]
Can’t help but cheer him on. The ultimate in self marketing 🙂
Better chance than Waiting for Godot
It is the iPhone 5. We all know it. What is all the iPhone 4s crap?
I doubt the next iPhone is going to be the iPhone 4S. Otherwise Apple would have announced it and released it by now.
Yep. Agreed.
What?! The 3GS came 12months after the 3G. So, because it’s been more than 12 months is your reason? Oooookay then.
Personally I don’t think Apple will release a major redesign until a 4G compatible iPhone comes out. I’m thinking more iPhone 4S, because I think the major iPhone upgrade this year is iOS5, and iCloud.
I’m actually extremely excited for iOS5.
If that’s the case then it will be a tremendous disappointment. There’s no reason why an iPhone 4S shouldn’t have been released on schedule in June.
No, if Apple’s pushing the date back then they must have a trick up their sleeve.
The only ‘trick’ here is that they’re waiting for everyone who bought the iPhone 4 at upgrade pricing to be eligible again for an AT&T subsidy.
A binman? Is that English for garbage man?
It sounds so much more civilized, in English 🙂
Most things do. 🙂
I write to find out if Apple-IPhone London was running any promotion in the past weeks. My friend Peter receive an e-mail that he won £1 700 000-00 ref IP 121G and claim verification number CN-435-663-0. The mail says the parcel is with British Courrier on file number 72099/102/303215.
