Hon Hai Precision unit to spend $1.6 billion on Apple China Stores

According to a brief Bloomberg report, citing The Economic Daily News, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co.’s unit Cybermart International will spend NT$47 billion (US$1.6 billion) to open electronics retail stores selling Apple Inc. products in China, the unit’s Chairman Steve Chang said.

  1. I’ve come over all nostalgic for all those posts saying how Apple was failing in China and doomed to irrelevancy unless they changed their ways. What a quaint idea.

  2. Apple has more than enough money to open all stores it could possibly need.

    To be fair, the company is greatly lacking on international front. In ten years, Apple did not build even a hundred of stores outside the USA, which provides soon to be 2/3 of revenue/profits.

          Re Apple outside the U.S. – the U.S. has only 4.5% of the world’s population, so I’d say there’s a gignourmous amount of room for Apple to expand.
