“The first authorized biography of Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been given a new title after its author, Walter Isaacson, persuaded publishers to go with something a little more ‘elegant,'” Killian Bell reports for Cult of Mac.
“The book is currently available for pre-order and is due for release on March 6, 2012,” Bell reports. “However, it won’t be released as iSteve: The Book of Jobs as originally planned.”
Bell reports, “Instead, it will be more tastefully named Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson.”

It was so different. Unique. Like Steve.
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson sounds really boring. And the last thing Steve Jobs is boring.

Yes, Steve is not boring, but everything about him, Apple and their products is tasteful, simple and refined.
iSteve… is showy with a certain amount of arrogance with religious overtones.
‘Steve Jobs’ is exactly what it is, a book about Steve Jobs. The title is the book, nothing extra needed.

or do you say it has “religious overtones” cause JOBS is his last name and JOB (jōb) which is pronounced differently, is a book in the Bible?
The old title didn’t bother me, new title just seems like any old book.
I think people are reading too much into the name of the old title.
I was one of the many who voiced their displeasure at the earlier corny title. Mr. Jobs deserves better, and this current title suits him well. Some may still prefer something more creative a title, but I maintain, this without any pretension will serve him befittingly.
Meanwhile, his real biography, autobiography even, is in his oeuvre. Future historians would do well to comb through the underside of the motherboards, and factories for things that are there just as well that weren’t in stark juxtaposition to his contemporaries. For that, each device that buy, you have his official bio stamped in it. No better way to know an artist that I can think of. And he is that.
“Steven Jobs” would even more classy and way more original since no one ever uses his proper name.
SJ may hate the “proper” name. which may be why he doesn’t use it himself.
That is possibility, but it is still probably more about habit/philosophical/non-formal style Jobs used to in many ways of his life, starting from the clothes.
Timothy Cook also calls himself Tim — it is culture thing, common among many people in USA (Bob=Robert Dole, Bill=William Clinton, et cetera).
He probably likes his full name, as he uses “Steven Jobs” as his signature. But imagine what would it be if he used his real father’s surname “Jandali”, and moreover a muslim name if his father wouldn’t give him for adoption. No one seems to acknowledge these facts here!!
The old title of the book has been Steved.
At least they didn’t call it “RDF” or something similarly disparaging.
“mr. i” is what they should have called it. Not proper, not “fru fru” fancy, but simple, elegant, and tasteful.
