Analyst expects Apple to profit as memory, display component pricing improves

“Pricing for memory, NAND flash memory and displays in Apple’s overseas component supply chain is said to be improving, positioning to place the company in a favorable and more profitable position in the coming months,” Neil Hughes reports for AppleInsider.

“Citing sources in Apple’s overseas supply chain, analyst Shaw Wu with Sterne Agee reported to investors on Wednesday that overall component trends continue to improve through July,” Hughes reports. “The situation has resulted in more favorable pricing, which he believes will be poised to profit from this change.”

  1. It will give Apple the option to lower iPad prices, if the “competition” is ever able to compete on price. Currently, they can only manage to match Apple’s price with far inferior products.

  2. I don’t know about you but if prices continue to drop and apple remain at it’s current price , I for one would feel very neglected.
One can only charge so much for integration design.
The apple computers are fast due to it’s individual fast and stable products . Other companies uses the same with lower price points.
Just compare apple ram prices !! Rip off yep, they have no hand in the design but are charging exorbitantly .
So Apple do cut the price of your products !!

  3. There are only 10 reasons to be in business. The first is to make a profit. The other nine don’t count. The value of anything and every thing, is what a ready, willing and able buyer and seller agree to.

It appears that, based on sales volume, buyers are valuing Apple products greater than the sum of it’s parts. This is as it should be. Otherwise Apple would just be another box maker like DELL and we’d never see the likes of iPod, iPhone, iPad or iCloud.

  4. If Apple trully cares about only profits it would have put in blu ray into every system or not cut the price of it’s Software Mac os , as an example.
Apple talk about seamless integration and for that to
Occur it need USERS , statistic already show that more that half o iPhone used do not sync or have a computer . They just use or adhoc.
So Apple lower the cost ! Get a bigger PC market share and damn Microsoft !!

    1. I don’t think that Apple should lower their goals. I honestly think that consumers should raise their goals. From my own experience, I feel that Apple products certainly meet or exceed my standards and I’m willing to pay for that. I could easily buy a less expensive computer, but why should I since I like Apple quality. There are obviously those that feel that Apple products are no better than any other manufacturers, but that’s their opinion. Maybe they don’t even care about lesser quality. Apple products are consistently rated higher in quality so there must be something to that claim. I’m not much into extra features. I just want a solid running machine that fits my needs. My 24″ Intel iMac does that and I’m very much satisfied.

Rubbish. OSX has been cut in price because it’s no longer sold as a physical object, a DVD in a box, it’s now a download, saving a huge amount of money in the long run, and BluRay isn’t in Macs because it’s a proprietary Sony product. If you *really* want a BluRay drive, there’s plenty of external drives out there. Personally, I couldn’t give a toss.

      1. In what is it rubbish, Apple
Wants the market share . And the important thing is it profit margin.
If the individual component are priced lesser then should
        Not the final
        Product likewise follow suit?
Another example is Mac OS server is now obsolete. It is integrated into Mac Os Lion.
Also IPod touch owners in the past need to pay for IOS upgrade , now not anymore.
There are a lot more examples of apple changing policies for market share.
