Apple iPhone the top-selling smartphone at both Verizon and AT&T

“It’s been about five months since Apple’s iPhone debuted on Verizon’s network and already it’s the carrier’s top-selling handset,” John Paczkowski reports for AllThingsD.

“This according to BTIG Research (registration required), which spent the past three weeks asking 250 Verizon and AT&T stores across the United States to name their number one smartphone,” Paczkowski reports. “Of the Verizon stores surveyed, 51 percent said the iPhone was their top-seller and an additional 38 percent said it was tied for first with a rival Android device, typically the Samsung Droid Charge or the HTC Thunderbolt.”

Paczkowski reports, “At AT&T stores, the iPhone was even more dominant — 65 percent of them named it as their top selling phone. Another 31 percent said it was an Android device.”

  1. It would probably even do better at VZ if the Verizon sales people would promote it. I’m with AT&T, but went with my friends to buy a couple of VZ iPhones. I was looking at the iPad there, the rep tried to talk me into an android tablet (xoom I think) and then mentioned that the android phones had great features too, trying to influence my friends.

A few weeks ago we went back in, I heard the manager mention to the reps that as of this month, Apple products count towards their numbers. Maybe they’ll stop push crapdroid products over Apple, but I’d be surprised.

Good thing Apple products sell themselves, in spite of the lap of help by salesmen.

    1. My cousin works at a carrier, they have been told to sell the droids before they sell the iPhones. This is to clear inventory. They are also incentivized to sell droids more than iPhones.

    2. LACK of help… not LAP of help. Thanks Autocorrect…

Plus there will NEVER be a buy 1 get 1 iPhone! But when you want to get rid of android stock, you do what you must…

    1. my fiance and I have bought 5 iphones each and all 5 of the came from the apple store, and everytime I go in one there are people walking out with them. So I would agree when these numbers are left out and it is already estimated that iPhones sell more than android adding in apple retail store numbers would solidify it.
