“It looks like the next month or so is shaping up to be a fairly busy month for the Mac,” Mark Gurman reports for 9to5Mac.
“In addition to OS X Lion, our sources are already expecting new MacBook Airs and Time Capsules fairly soon – due to supply shortages and now Mr. X tells 9to5Mac that Apple’s Mac mini Server and Mac Pro Server are constrained with no shipment date yet in place for new models,” Gurman reports. “It would be a safe bet that Apple’s next server products will feature Sandy Bridge Processors and Thunderbolt I/O.”
Gurman reports, “The interesting part about both the Mac Pro and Mac mini server models become constrained simultanously [sic] is that Apple might be looking to completely revamp their server offerings, not just update each respective product.”

Well I just bought a Mac mini server. That’d be about par for the course!
(it works great, so I’m only mildly complaining)
I thought they were mentioning an Airport/Time Capsule update last week. not a Macbook Air update..
the Air had a big update last year, well so did the mini..
the Mac Pro i DO expect a big change soon. the mini and Air i bet apple could hold off till next year. not saying they won’t update them though..
I’d expect the mini to get Thunderbolt and boost in specs — the case is perfect as far as I’m concerned.
The Mac Pro enclosure is getting a little long in the tooth. Not sure why it needs to be so damn big when it no longer has to worry about cooling those G5’s. Would be fun to see it slimmed down a little bit.

Own a MacPro (non server) and a Mac mini server (server OS but not used as one). Don’t really need an update to either, but if a New MacPro that’s more power efficient is available I might jump on it.
BTW- Apple should offer the Mac mini w/ 2 internal drives with the client OS. I bought the thing for the 1TB internal storage and added the MacBook Air SuperDrive for the LR HDTV.
Apple should give the “server” version of the Mac Pro a SECOND row of four pull-out internal SATA drives.
Well, duh. Part of apple’s pricing strategy on it current server line is that you get minimal hardware upgrade compared to the base model for each, but you get the $499 SL server software.
10.7 server will be sold for $50 extra, so there goes their strategy. If the new mini comes with TB (assuming the promises are kept with that i/o) you’d be an idiot to spend the extra money on a server edition. Same goes for the mac pro. You could get the base configuration for each and pop the extra fifty bucks.
Thank God I didn’t buy a server lately.
