Apple starts MacBook bottom case replacement program

“Apple has initiated a case replacement program for MacBooks shipped between October 2009 and April 2011 to resolve an issue where the rubber separates from the bottom of the case,” Josh Ong reports for AppleInsider. “The MacBook Bottom Case Replacement Program is available to owners with affected MacBooks, regardless of current warranty status.”

Ong reports, “Apple offers three options for replacing the case: set up an appointment with an Apple Genius and visit an Apple Retail Store; visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider; and self service by ordering a replacement case kit online. Do It Yourself kits include a new bottom case, screws, a Phillips head screwdriver and instructions for removal of the old case and installation of the new one.”

  1. Mac Bottom is separating from Mac Top because he suggested that Mac Top was getting too old (actually that she was no longer…errr…ummm…tight enough). Upon hearing this Mac Top flipped her lid and felt it was because she suggested that Mac Bottom should wear a new rubber. Mac Bottom disagreed band feels this issue has become a barrier between them.

  2. Since the first day i brought my MacBook i got deep scratches on the bottom. As soon as that happened i knew that there would be a free replacement, because i always take care my my Apples. This is great news. Thanks for telling me MDN
