JOOB beta mobile platform now available; connects any business system with any mobile device

“Economic Development Minister David Carter has called Jade Software’s JOOB mobile platform a ‘shining example’ of innovation in the New Zealand technology sector,” The National Business Review reports.

“He today launched the beta version of the JOOB mobile plaftorm which connects any business system with any mobile device. Using a set of native client libraries, available for AppleiOS, Windows Phone 7, Android and JavaSript, developers can access the JOOB mobile framework,” NBR reports. “This means JOOB provides a middleware solution for developers, whether in-house or external, which includes security and access to business systems from any mobile operating system.”

NBR reports, “Developers can then concentrate on creating the user experience end product, rather than the nuts and bolts of connecting the mobile device and the business systems.”

  1. Okay, can someone explain in plain English, not hyperbole, exactly what this miracle solution does and how it works? I read their press release and go to their site and I cannot make heads or tails out of any of it. Thank you in advance!

    1. Basically, a developer can write an app that will allow an iPhone user to connect to their business’ server regardless of whether that server is running Linux or Winblows or whatever. If your company decides to ditch Winblows and run Linux or OS X, then the same app will still work. Likewise, similar apps can be written for other platforms (Android, Crackberry, etc.) that provide the same functionality.

If I’m wrong, someone please correct me!

      1. Is this compatible with Exchange Server or does it circumvent it? It’s hard to fix where it fits into an Enerprise IT framework, if at all.

Any enlightenment out there in the ether?

        1. My take is that Exchange would just be a server side “business system” that Joob can connect to. On the client mobile device, you would need an app that can talk to Exchange.
