“Despite the overwhelming demand for the iPad 2 and the supply shortages across the U.S., it seems the device isn’t too hard to get hold of if you have a friend high up in the Apple camp,” Killian Bell reports for Cult of Mac.
“English writer, director, and funny-man Ricky Gervais got his iPad 2 courtesy of Jony Ive, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Industrial Design,” Bell reports. “Gervais announced in a post on his blog this week: ‘So I got two parcels today. One was the new iPad 2 from its genius inventor Jony Ive (it’s a work of art).'”

Apple is spending even less marketing in US because AT&T and Verizon have started to do much of the commercials we see on TV at least on the East Coast that is.

Usually, they let selected celebs into the Apple Store on launch day to get their prized possessions. At least they’ve done so in the past at the 5th Ave NYC Apple Store, and at other NYC stores.

I just told my friend who is going to try and get an iPad tomorrow that she should call the apple store tell them that she is a celebrity (pick one) and tell them that she will be sending her assistant down to the store tomorrow to pick up an iPad. Then when she gets to the store tomorrow she should walk right to the front and announce herself as so and so’s assistant that is there to purchase an iPad for so and so as arrange over the phone. I know!! I’m a genius right….so full of win!
