Does anybody know if this fixes the “forced” site directory when publishing to an FTP site?
Dear Apple,
Please make your Dashcode as powerful as Xcode 4 but for more generic web programming for complex sites. Adobe will be begging for a buy out in 2 years.
Thank you.
Clear!!!
(zap!)
Folks, we have a heartbeat!
iWeb could be SOOO much more!!
It would be nice if Apple were to ad a Prosumer iWeb in it’s iWork Suite aimed at small businesses and cottage industries.
I totally agree. iWeb Pro!
I agree!
Make it as powerful as dreamweaver with the simplicity of iWeb.
I would pay $100 for that anyday
As a web designer I’d love a more powerful iWeb, something with the ability to edit php, and custom CSS would be great. It gets tiring being a slave to Adobe…
Have you taken a look at Karelia’s Sandvox? I don’t use it (not really a web developer), but I’ve heard some good things about it. Is it a possibility for you?
Why not Coda?
Very much agree, what iWeb does it does better than any other alternative but there are areas that it does not touch and restricts exploiting its usability in producing serious business sites. A few added features in the basic version or a more extensive prosumer version would really make it a serious contender. I do wonder however if because of the way lower end web creation is going that Apple will either turn it into a primarily web based solution or simply fade it out altogether. I do hope not.
I hope Apple will roll out an iPad compatible version of iWeb. I’m using BlogPress with WordPress which works very well. Still, would prefer to stick with what I began with iWeb.
I think an iPad version would be nice, but the version could be too lean. Maybe, it could be a blog tool that works with iWeb and iWeb could be more of a cloud based approach allowing on the go updates.
The rich blog capabilities of iWeb is unmatched in the industry, but it is static. A blog was to be dynamic otherwise you can not keep the information fresh.
Some great suggestions in Feedback!
iWeb has potential to be the best web app out there.
It is sad that Apple created such a potentially great and timely app, just when blogging took off, and then let it just languish for a couple years now with no development. Meanwhile exciting new technologies like Squarespace and Posterous have hit and made such an impact. Meanwhile the formerly cutting edge iWeb, which ships with every Mac, just limps along. I don’t get it.
Meanwhile I keep using the word meanwhile. And I’m an editor. Where the f*&W% is the comment editing feature?
Apple has completely dropped the ball with iWeb. This program was so cutting edge upon release and now the world has completely bypassed it. I was shocked seeing this story on MDN, thinking that iWeb was updated. That would have been SO awesome. Sadly, that was not the case. How could Apple be so stupid with regards to iWeb? They have BILLIONS of cash in the banks. Spend a measly few millions and make the best damn web site app out there! The potential is just enormous, but Apple simply does not care.
