At least they are branching out with their one joke ride from the movie bidness.
My Dad was a privet pilot, all the information he had to carry was very heavy. The industry term is plates, but they are several books with detailed information on airports. You must have one for all the airports in the area you are flying incase you have to unexpectedly land somewhere. They are constantly updated to reflect changes at the airports. They are very expensive. This is on top of the charts you must have with you. Having all that information in a iPad would be a godsend. Less to carry and instantly updated. I would say cheaper, but that never happens with airplanes.
As a proud Calgarian, I see Fokker services regularly standing on 3rd, 9th and 17th Ave afternoons and evenings.
Not that I’m looking for those services.
But for general aviation pilots, Foreflight is a great app and carries most of the data that’s n a traditional flight bag. Add PDFs in iBooks (reference material, regs, etc.) web access for weather and private pilots never had so much information at their fingertips, certainly no in the cockpit.

I’ve been waiting on this to come. And there’s a lot more. What about maintenance in various fields? To make the iPad really versatile it needs an explosion proof case so it could betake out in refineries, oil rigs, mills where dust could cause an explosion etc.
And of course apps to communicate with SAP, Oracle etc. for maintenance databases.
