Apple’s competition foolishly fails to hear the clarion call for simplicity. Simplicity = success. Who ever said anyway things need to be needlessly complex? Shows a distinct lack of imagination of engineers, CEO’s and marketing departments. May their cluelessness shoot them down in flames every time.

You’re right on. Here in my small town, people know that I have an above average tech background. I get a lot of people asking me for advice. Lately, lots of people are buying iPads (an amazing number) and I’ve had three people come to me and ask if I’d help “set it up” for them out of the box.
I enjoy that, so I say sure. Every single one of them at the end is like, “I could have done that myself!”
My reply is simple: “That’s because every other piece of tech you ever owned made you feel stupid and you expect it to be hard. Welcome to Apple.”
The ease of the Apple TV setup is scary simple. It took me less than 5 minutes and I was watching Netflix, YouTube, photos, music, movies from my iMac. Not one hiccup… Again I say to Google…. It’s the software you idiots.

$600 with accessories and what looks like 500 buttons on the remote, you’d have to be a scientist to afford and figure out Logitech’s Google TV. Apparently according to this article the software also sucked!

The release of Android 3.0 is not going to change the basic conceptual flaws of Google TV.
It’s too complex for a living room entertainment device. Even “well-heeled geeks” don’t want this thing, because if they wanted their TV to be a computer, they would just connect a REAL computer.
Apple TV is simple and affordable. It works with a remote that has about half a dozen buttons. Once there are enough millions of devices out there connected to TVs, Apple will negotiate for more new content (in a stronger bargaining position), and turn ON new services and features. Steve Jobs will keep calling it a “hobby” until, one day, it is not…

This product was DOA right from the beginning. They were going for too much at the beginning. That is what made it complicated. Apple went the simple route. That is what made the ATV a winner.
