Apple’s iBooks app includes the iBookstore, where you can download the latest best-selling books or your favorite classics. Browse your library on a bookshelf, tap a book to open it, flip through pages with a swipe or a tap, and bookmark or add notes to your favorite passages.
New in iBooks 1.2:
• Experience fully illustrated books, from children’s picture books to beautifully designed art books, available for download in the iBookstore.
• Organize your books and PDFs into personal Collections. Swipe left or right to jump between Collections.
• Print PDF documents and notes you’ve written in iBooks using AirPrint.
• iBooks now fits more words per page by automatically hyphenating text, available only on iOS 4.2 or later.

nice! the collections ability is sorely needed.
I had no idea that illustrated books weren’t supported. Glad they are now. Also, the hyphenation support is a nice touch.
Problem with iBooks is that it’s so SLOW. I’ve found Stanza and GoodReader to be better apps.
I regret to inform you that sorting doesn’t work at all. You can ceate a new category, choose a few books and get a nice animation ant that’s about it. Nothinghas been moved. Not only that but I had 4o pdf books that are now showing with a generic icon AND a generic title. Yes indeed they are now all called “In Search of Dark Matter”.

Wish Apple would get their butt in gear and release a Mac version of iBooks. I have to buy a lot of titles through Amazon just so I can read and reference textbook materials in my Macs.

I don’t know about you but my pages turn pretty fast.. Don’t need it to be faster.. I still like the view and layout of iBook better than all the others.. I use them all as well. I just wish I could buy through iTunes as I like to shop on the computer better.
Slow? slow at what? page turning? I don’t notice a diff using kindle app and ibooks. Ipad and iphone4
while I think ebooks in general need to show more price movement (downward), I have matched over 50 read books on ibooks vs kindle store. Only 1 or 2 did I find cheaper at the kindle store while 1 was cheaper at ibooks. the rest were the same…likewise via nook.

I do not find it slow. The Collections work great for me. It is wonderful to be able to put the ePub books together with the PDF books that are in a similar category! Wonderful program. Seems almost re-born! Even though I use the Kindle app, I would not pick the Kindle app over iBooks, however, it is nice to have access to both. And as for selection, I agree with caddisfly, I have found most of what I want in iBooks.
Unfortunately I had an issue with the app crashing since updating and I have found it slow as well. The other features are very nice except I prefer the Kindle app due to choices, price and yes speed. Sorry Apple this is from a very faithful user. You can do better.
Unfortunately until SJ gets his shite together and brings Random House publishers on board, the iBooks store will continue to be decibels rate. If Amazon and B&N can sell Grisham and all the othe millions of titles from that conglomerate, we are.still stuck with buying from Amazon and using the boring Kindle reader. Sigh!

Another Feature Not Mentioned !!!!
Now you can email and imbed epubs in a URL website. The iOS “Open In…” now allows you to import the epub into iBooks from email or URL.
This wireless distribution makes distributing your own epubs wirelessly really simple.
