Radio Shack offers $50 off Apple iPhones through December 11th

Complete your iPad experience with ZAGGmate! At Radio Shack stores, “you can buy a 16GB iPhone 4 for just $149, which is $50 off the price that you’ll find at Apple or AT&T stores, and much better than even picking one up at your local Walmart,” Steven Sande reports for TUAW. “That price, of course, requires a minimum 2-year commitment to an AT&T plan.”

Sande reports, “The 32GB iPhone 4 is similarly priced at $249, and an 8GB iPhone 3GS is an absolute steal at $49… You can only get this deal by walking into a Radio Shack location, and this is only good through Saturday, December 11.”

  1. ATT is subsidizing the discount, cause they want to lock as many as they can for 2 years before Jan, when another company will offer iphone service.

    I was going to buy iphones for family for xmas, but i’m going to wait to see what new company has to offer

    You are making a bad decision, based on an assumption, which in turn is based on rumours and nothing else.

    Apple’s agreement with AT&T is for five years. This has been revealed in court documents in the anti-trust suit against Apple regarding iPhone on single carrier in US. There have been hundreds of wishful thinking articles out there speculating about iPhone on Verizon, and since they all referred to one another, it looked like this is bona fide news. It is not. There is NO reliable evidence to indicate a real possibility of a CDMA iPhone on Verizon.

    You might want to reconsider and take advantage of this Radio Shack offer. There may not be such an offer any time soon.

  3. Go to a Radio Shack and try and get one… I went to 3 different stores..don’t have any , don’t know when we are getting more… BUT… the iPhone is not that hot we have much better phones to offer…all 3 locations , the same playbook.

    Can you say Bait an Switch??????

    “Apple’s agreement with AT&T is for five years.”

    Please provide a link. I’ve seen several articles throwing around this whole “5-year exclusive” deal with AT&T, but I’ve never seen a link to anything other than hearsay.

    Verification would be appreciated.

  5. @ kemck: I got one this afternoon at my local Radio Shack for my niece to upgrade her old iPhone 3G. I thought about sending her a gift card and letting her do the upgrade locally, but I figured that down here in the asshole of the United States that I’d have a better chance of finding one today than she would up in New York City on Friday or Saturday.

    @shawn mullins: Dial 611 on your phone and ask AT&T. I called to double check before heading off to Radio Shack to drop coin.

    @El Guapo@Predrag: You’re assuming that he’s assuming that what we all assumed to be true might actually be true based on the assumptions that were rumored to be true based on the assumptions that were printed in some rag whose owner owns a bunch of media outlets that is known to be fast and loose with the truth, though I’m just assuming that said dodgy rag was the source of the rumor that were all assuming was true or not true, I assume.

  6. Shawn mullins:

    You have two options:

    1. cellswapper.com, or celltradeusa.com (get someone to take over your old iPhone and whatever’s left on your contract). Then get a new subsidised iPhone, or;

    2. Sell your old iPhone on eBay. You should be able to get about $300 for it (if it’s still looking like new). Then get a new iPhone with a reduced subsidy ($400).
