TiVo Inc. today announced a powerful new TiVo app for Apple’s revolutionary iPad. The app will be available for free from the Apple iTunes App store in the coming weeks. The TiVo Premiere App enables you to search, browse, explore and share your favorite entertainment all without interrupting whatever is playing on your TV. Since the app works in tandem with what you are watching, Apple’s revolutionary iPad is now the ultimate remote control and companion device for TiVo Premiere users.
By bringing its best in class high-definition user interface to iPad, TiVo has created a true two-screen TV experience. TiVo Premiere users will get access to a full set of TiVo capabilities on iPad, providing a richer TV viewing experience for both live TV and Internet video while kicking back on the sofa. Plus, users will also be able to schedule and manage their DVR recordings while on-the-go.
The TiVo Premiere App for iPad includes:

The TiVo Premiere App will be available for free from the App Store on iPad or via Apple’s iTunes Store. Users must have a TiVo Premiere or TiVo Premiere XL box and an existing account with TiVo.
Holiday pricing is available for TiVo Premiere and TiVo Premiere XL for a limited time. TiVo Premiere is available for $99.99 with a one-year commitment of $19.99 per month — a $200 upfront savings. TiVo Premiere XL is available for $299.99 with a one-year commitment at $19.99 per month.

Great, but I want an iPad App that also controls my A/V receiver, Bluray player, audio zone switcher, AppleTV and Mac mini — all of which also are connected to my HDTV.
One remote, one interface — NOT piecemeal, separate remote Apps for each device!

I have Eye TVHD and a 250+ connected to my Mac Pro and the Eye TV app on my iPad & iPhone. I don;t see any value, especially since there is no subscription fee.

Like I said, one basic interface.
If you haven’t looked in the App Store, several iPod/iPhone remote control Apps with oddball interfaces already are available. They each try to differentiate themselves from one another — seemingly just for the sake of being different. The result: bad layouts, confusing setup procedures, poor graphics, inefficient tool (button) organization and an overall mediocre user experience.
This TiVo App looks like quality programming. So good, that you won’t want to jump back into a poorly-designed App to control the A/V receiver — you’ll be yearning for the TiVo interface and dread launching the other Apps.
Nice app but the guy kind of creeps me out, not just a little but a lot.
You need a Tivo Premier box $299 (HD) + $19.99/mo x 12 = $240 + $55/mo TW cable x 12 = $660 + iPad $500
$299 + $240 + $660 + $500 = $1700 for the first year and $900 for each year after that.
Plus a decent LCD HD TV or 3D TV $1500 etc.
Nice technology but they are starting to price people out of this stuff.
I love my iPhone but if you add it to the above… $199 + $900/yr AT&T… plus iTunes downloads $600 per year…
And you still need to upgrade desktop hardware and software periodically… good luck.
