Important information for users of the new MobileMe Calendar with iPad

Dear MobileMe member,

iOS 4.2 is now available and provides full support for the new MobileMe Calendar on iPad, including push updates of calendar changes. To update to iOS 4.2, connect your iPad to iTunes on your computer, select it in the Devices list, and click “Check for Update.”

Important: If you were using the new MobileMe Calendar on your iPad prior to updating to iOS 4.2, you should:
delete the CalDAV calendar you manually configured on your iPad
set the calendar slider to “on” in your MobileMe account
This will prevent the appearence of a duplicate calendar. For step-by-step instructions, please see this article.

Sincerely,

The MobileMe Team

  1. It’s better now, but it was a MESS for several hours this afternoon/evening. I have also been running 4.2 GM for a couple of weeks and 4.2.1 a few days. The problems only started today.

  2. ” . . . updating to iOS 4.2, you should:
delete the CalDAV calendar you manually configured on your iPad”

Now how many people are going to now delete their calendar from their Cal app mistakingly believing MobleMe will bring it back?

    Could have been worded better.

  3. It wiped all my music and movies from my 3GS. Everything else was ok. Is there any reason to update with a 3GS? I read something about new text tones, but I couldn’t find any after updating.

  4. Joe
Did the same to mine even though on the graphic it showed all the music to be taking up storage.
I synced it again and all worked well.

    On a 3GS, you can
-print remotely to an HP printer (mine is a Canon)
-use Airplay (I have the old TV, but my Airport Express to a Bose wave player works)
    -use word search in Safari
-can assign text tone to different people, new tones were for iPhone 4 only
-beautiful, elegant and lickable new icon for ‘Voice Memos’….
