  1. Don’t get me wrong I think the iPad is the best thing since sliced bread. Of course I will give recognition to genius where it is due. But to take away choice & to replace it with an option forced down your throat such as the removal of the physical orientation switch under iOS 4.2 is just plain stupid.

  2. Very funny. At Christmas, which do you think your child will want? Child abuse. If it isn’t from Apple with an Apple logo on it, make sure you blame it on Santa.

    Letter to Santa:

“Dear Santa, what were you thinking. I really wanted an iPad. Maybe next year?”

  3. @ Ballmer’s left nut
Apple ‘forced’ us to use a mouse
Apple ‘forced’ us to abandon the 5 1/4″ floppy
Apple ‘forced’ us to abandon the 3 1/2″ floppy
Apple ‘forced’ us to abandon optical drives
Apple ‘forced’ us to live without the BluRay bag of hurt
Apple ‘forced’ us to move away from crashing power hungary FLASH
Apple ‘forced’ us to stop using a mouse and use our fingers
Apple ‘forced’ us to move technology forward and abandon Luddites

  4. Ballmer’s Left Nut, (there’s a name I didn’t think I’d write today) They didn’t take away the orientation switch, they just moved it. It will now be in the mult-tasking toolbar next to the iPod controls. Basically matching where it is on the iPhone now.

  5. the killer scene is the first where he puts the blatantly much smaller Galaxy on top of an iPad and notes they both cost about the same. most people will never get any further …

btw, anyone try to play Angry Birds on a 16:9 screen yet? it’s not so easy to dive bomb those pigs straight down if you can’t see the top of your trajectory …

  6. Got to play with a galaxy at my local tesco late last night. It was plugged into the mains si I can’t say how long the battery will last between charges. Overall it’s not bad, but it’s not in the same class as the iPad. Oh, and it costs over 400 big ones too!
The only thing it has going for it ( and I know most people will disagree with me) is that it is 7″ rather than 10″ and the ipads size is the one thing stopping me buying one at present as I would be using it more on the hoof than at home therefore 7″ would make the iPad more portable for me as I am not a messenger bag type of person. If it won’t fit in my pockets it gets left at home as far as I concerned. So, in closing, 7″ iPad please Steve.

Do u have custom made 7″ pockets or wear trendy overalls?

I was offered a free iPad when it first came out and passed (iPass) thinking (wrongly) that it was too big and a shlep. A while later I needed a new laptop or something (this was months before MB Air) and THEN I “got” it and got an iPad and happily shlep everywhere ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” /> just like a thin book.

Early on bought a pouch with a shoulder strap -not used it once.

Off topic – been waiting/hoping for Verizon iPhone forever but the more I use my iPad, the iPhone looks smaller and smaller.

We don’t need a 7″ IMHO. It’s not portable enough and the screen size sacrifice is too large. 10″ is perfect!

More off topic – but what I would like instead of 2 shift or number keys is an “@” key and if u reduce the number and space bar keys a “.com” key all on the top letters keyboard.

Being a yokel from Yorkshire I could never be considered a trendsetter but most of my jackets have pockets big enough for a 7″ iPad but not for a 10″ version.
Fear not, I won’t be buying a galaxy but instead of an iPad I could be tempted by the 11″ MBA if I have to buy something with a screen size of that ilk.

  9. so…based on assumed reviews..you bash a product most of you never left your mom’s basement to review first had.

Is it an ipad killer? no..jobs has brainwashed the public into thinking nothing but apple can produce acceptable technology innovations.

Personally, I’ve used both…and although I like the iPad…i prefer the size and openness of the galaxy tab. viewing movies widescreen, playing angry birds and all the slew of 3d games is exceptional.

If you cant see past your own brainwashing and see the galaxy tablet for what it is…then go back to your little world and hide. Android is the 2nd largest OS for mobile devices in the WORLD. By next year…with symbian dead…it will become #1. where’s apple? a meager 17%(maybe a bit more now) of the market.

Quit bashing a product on unfounded and unbiased reviews. (sure go ahead and tell me all your reviews are from reputable sites..and i’ll show you 10 “reputable” sites that show the iPad as nothing more then a toy with a pricetag.)

    Both are great products. period.
