“Apple [has] pushed iOS 4.2 Gold Master into Developers Center,” Ahmed Omar reports for CoveringWeb.
“The newly released Redsn0w 0.9.6 has been confirmed to jailbreak iOS 4.2 GM on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPod touch 4G / 3G / 2G and iPad,” Omar reports.
“So, if you have got your copy of iOS 4.2 GM, you will be able to jailbreak it using the instructions posted here.
@Cubert “The people I know who jailbreak do so to use apps that Apple won’t allow”
Thank you!
I JailBreaked and unlocked my 1st gen iPhone, so I could swap out sim cards when traveling for work (caribbean , have 5 different sim cards) I now have an iPhone 4 on an unlimited plan (Mexico TelCel), so I JB’d for other use’s, and use the older iPhone when I need a different sim card.
I use “3G unrestrictor” allows me to use FaceTime while on the road, Great tool when checking out construction sites, I can send the video to partners to discuss problems, real time! It is also my choice for calling home! Until 4.0 I also used “3G unrestrictor” to allow me to make VIOP calls on 3G (TruPhone).
I also use “MyWi” tethering on my UNLIMITED data plan! (TelCel has no problem, its ATT imposing on the rest of the world, what you do with your data). I purchased an iPad WiFi only (savings of $132.00) and use my iPhone as my “Hot Spot” when I need to use the iPad and I’m not in WiFi. (saving another $30.00 a month in unneeded data plan).
I am not a hacker, or a geek, just want to use my iPhone to its full potential!
Apple’s walled garden approach has failed, people want control over their paid for hardware.
The “carrier” excuse is pure BS, as they allow 3G dongles and Windows on their cell networks, how crazy is that?
Now comes the Mac App Store…
@KillJoy
Firstly the Mac will not be locked down like the iPhone
On the Mac the app sore is just one way to get an app file
2 the iPhone has more language interpreters then the android
Even without jailbreaking
Oh and apple wasn’t the first to have a “walled garden” atari was with there vcs
iOS is apples game system is and MacOS is apples computer os (just like atari maintained a computer line and a game system line)
Stephen,
Here’s lockinfo. Mine has the weather/clock like the pic, I really only use mail/msg/phone/and events part of lockinfo.
You can customize the look etc.
The calendar and weather info collapses when not used, tap one side to view them.
Once you use something on your lockscreen.. You wonder why apple has never done something with it.

I use 20 sec lockscreen so it don’t shut off on me after 5 seconds. I could do with 10 seconds.. But only options are 20 and 60 second mods.
Man you guys have too much time on your hands
