Apple’s Mobile Me helps locate stolen purse with iPhone; robber gets arrested

WSB-TV in Atlanta has a video report about Apple’s MobileMe and how the service helped track robbers who snatched a woman’s purse with her iPhone inside:

  1. There is a chance that some Android app may provide similar functionality. However, as long as stories such as this one start proliferating, the general public perception will continue to be that there is only one iPhone, and everything else is just significantly inferior.

    Notice how even the reporters are using Apple’s marketing sound bites (“There’s an app for that!”).

  3. MDN: What about the article I sent the other day about the little girl who saved her own neck with her IPod as a predator attempted to kidnap her and she put the device to her as is if making a phone call. One smart lucky kid!!

    You are right. There is a chance that there is an Android app that will do this , but this woman had an iPhone!. So what are you moaning about? If the robber stole a Mercedes with tracking, would you complain that people are being misled that this is not available on a GM car and the reporter should have mentioned that?
    And yes, there is only one iPhone, and everything else IS inferior.
