“Microsoft apparently plans to issue a new WP7 phone to all 89,000 of its employees, and would presumably be paying for those costly monthly data plans too,” Jon Brodkin reports for Network World.
“‘Every Microsoft employee will be getting a Windows Phone 7 phone,’ says Guy Gilbert, one of two Windows Phone executives I interviewed at PDC earlier this week,” Brodkin reports. “Do those Microsoft employees with non-Windows phones use BlackBerries, Androids, or iPhones? Gilbert did not say. The Nexus404.com blog says that Microsoft employees supposedly hide their iPhones when Ballmer and other executives come trotting around.”
Brodkin reports, “Microsoft employees even held a mock funeral to signal the impending death of Apple’s iPhone.”

MacDailyNews Take: Depriving Microsoft employees of the ability to Copy-Paste is the height of irony.
We hope against hope that Windows Phone ’07 won’t mean the end of Ballmer’s reign at Microsoft.
Of course that number will be counted in the official release date sales! If they wanted to be like RIM, give another one for family or friend and double the count!

This is good! In one move, Microsoft has found a way to make all their employes even less effective.
May Steve Balmer run Microsoft for as long as it takes is coming quicker now!

MS is paying for the carrier service too? That’s good.
I foresee a lot of Microsofties leaving their Windows Phones charging at their desks when they go home at night.
Of course those low on the pay scale and have to brown nose the most would likely be ditching their current phones for the free service phones.

We hear a lot of talk from the fringe of the PC world about how Steve Jobs tell everyone what to do and think and yet witness Microsoft’s autocracy at work, a place where using a competitor’s product would probably result in your termination.
Microsoft’s morale flag is flying at half-staff.

Yes MDN, . . . a truly keen observation.

They gave away even more zunes to employees, campus visitors, and trade show attendees. These accounted for much of their “sales.” A friend of mine was given one at a conference. He didn’t want it and none of his children or their friends would touch it. iPod only.
